  • Good Location, Friendly/Helpful Front Desk, But not very Clean

    by Amy F on 2019-05-03 06:40 am

We stayed at this hotel in 4/19. Upon exiting the elevator we were greeted with a mountain of trash bags, nice first impression. In the room we noticed that the trash under sink was full. The bathroom, while it had been attended to (the TP was folded in a point) the counter and shelf behind the toilet was dusty and had hair on it. The light next to bed did not work (it was not the bulb, we checked) tub floor had a dent in it. whirlpool jets did not work when pressing the button but interestingly enough DID in fact work when gaining access to breaker panel in room.. that's not safe!
When opening Juliet balcony sliders, with screen closed, there was at least a two inch gap left for bugs to enter room (Not where screens meet, but at the other end) We reported all of this immediately & were relocated to the room next door.. that room was smaller BUT CLEANER! No clean towels at pool, and the Roof Top Hot Tub Area was a Gnat infested waste of time.
Location was convenient to beach & restaurants. Overall, we were very disappointed with this hotel and will not be returning. We sent a very detailed review to Hotel Management & were contacted that they sent our review over to the Corporate Director of Operations, promised that we should be hear from someone shortly. NEVER DID.

  • Great!

    by Bethanny K on 2019-04-18 06:31 am

We booked despite seeing that there were some less than stellar reviews. Normally I peruse the reviews but we loved the pictures and checked al the boxes we were looking for for our large family, so I turned a blind eye and decided to see for myself! We've never been to Newport before so at first, I was a little disappointed as we drove further from the pier and all of the hustle and bustle of shops and restaurants. Any slight disappointments melted away as soon as the stunning shoreline came to view. And to my utter delight, right across the street from that stunning beach, sat the hotel. We stayed in the suites and one side of the suites faces the coast and the other faces the bay. It's beautiful. Overall the accommodations are very comfortable. The beds were comfortable. The temperature was comfortable. The decor is pretty. If I'm going to be picky, the kitchen and marble could have been... cleaner? It's not that it's not clean, it's just that there's some obvious wear and tear now and the tiles are a bit stained and the kitchen could use a facelift. But it didn't take away from our stay. The kitchen allowed us to prep some meals but it's not exactly designed to comfortably cook many meals- there's limited counter space and cookware/utensils. There's a small saucepan and lid as well as a shallow, wide saucepan. There was no frypan and I don't think there was a boiling pot. I brought my own cutting board and we went out to buy some disposable plates, bowls and utensils. There's a nice toaster oven, dishwasher with dishwasher tablet, as well as a new sponge and dish soap.
The best feature of this hotel- besides the proximity to the beach, is their indoor pool. We went in April so we definitely got our use out of the pool. First of all, if you stay in the suites, it is found pretty much right outside of the main hallway. My kids loved the super short walk to the pool as we could go in our swimsuits and not worry about going through the lobby or encountering everyone at the hotel. The pool is pretty small, but it is ACTUALLY heated. I hate when hotels say they have a heated indoor pool and it's freeeeeezing cold. This was bath water temperature. When other families would come by, it definitely felt tight, but in the lucky moments we were alone as a family, it was awesome. The hot tub was adjacent and the kids had fun jumping from one pool to another. Two sides of the pool house are all windows facing the bay so it was really scenic as well. Upstairs had an outdoor jacuzzi but it was so cold, I never got to venture. Next time!

Anyway, we had fun driving around and exploring Newport. It was fun going to the bustle of people, shops, and restaurants and then retreating to the quieter more peaceful side of town.

I highly recommend walking over to Flo's clam shack(?) for fried seafood. Their back entrance is a short walk across the street and their casual but delicious eatery fulfilled our desire for good seafood. Their fried clams are as good as they claim.

  • What a wonderful place

My wife and I took advantage of my MILs offer to watch our two young ones so we could get away for a night...we decided on a trip to Newport so we could tour the mansions... We were given a nice King room with a beach view in the historic building...could not have been happier...check in was easy, Sarah was a delight...the room was clean and comfortable. Only minor point is the remote didn't work which rendered the TV unusable, but it was not worth calling the desk about...woke up to a great view of the waves coming in from out bed...get room 225 if you get a chance. We will return soon.

  • Enjoyable experience

    by Paul T on 2019-01-31 03:39 pm

I was displaced from my home during the recent disruption of natural gas that affected Newport. During that time I stayed in a one bedroom suite and could not have been more comfortable during my 5 day stay. The suite was meticulously clean with great amenities. The staff exceeded my most optimistic expectations and were extremely attentive. I highly recommend the Newport Beach Hotel and Suites for either short or long term stays.

  • Beautiful Vista

We stayed in a great one bedroom suite with lovely water views. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating and the suite is beautifully laid out with a comfortable sitting area, kitchenette and washer and dryer (greatly appreciated during an extended stay!) With a number of restaurants within walking distance and a beach just across the street this hotel is in an ideal location. You won't be disappointed!
