Elevator not working...no staff. Even if it was you have to climb one story to get to it. The day we arrived it wasn't and we had to carry our luggage up 4 stories... one of the stairways under construction. The whole place feels like an abandoned ruin. If you're handicapped forget it.

  • Can't miss tour in Long Island

My mom and I took a tour this month and absolutely loved it! Our tour guide was amazing and made the experience great. The grounds are beautiful and we walked around after the tour was over. We did not do the lunch as we didn't know much about it, but I would definitely do that next time.

  • TOUR

If this was my first and only tour I would think it was great but it's not. The tour guide was pleasant & informative but the tour lacked depth and interest as a whole. It was just ok as far as tours go. As an example a few days prior I had gone to Mill Neck Manor House for a tour. Now that was a very interesting tour.

  • A lovely afternoon

I went with my family on Monday, there were six of us for a tour and lunch. I wanted to visit the Castle for a long time, since this is the 100th Anniversary, I decided this was a perfect time. Our guide was lovely and informative, definately put your mind into the Gatsby time and the life style of the owner, Otto Kahn and his family. It was a breath taking site, the grounds, the construction, In 1984, the builder that bought the Castle, Gary Melius, did a magnificent job of restoring the Castle to its original style of the 1920's. There are many weddings here and the back ground for music, television movie and TV shows filmed here . The guest rooms are all very large, the Bridal Suite is like an apartment, all exciting to see. The beautiful bar and dining is open to the public. Our lunch was delicious, lovely staff, very friendly and attentive. I'm very happy I got my wish to see this second largest private residence in America.

This is a must visit for anyone. Tour was very informative and awesome to see. The lunch was spectacular. Gary sat and chatted with everyone in there!! Hotel and grounds are vast and inviting. There was a Hollywood shoot going on too!
