  • BEAUTIFUL LOCATION

    by CTS_Knows on 2020-03-19 07:13 am

This mansion is built up high overlooking Long Island. I just thought it was available for weddings and catered affairs. My friend use to eat lunch here frequently with her husband until he passed. The outside is stunning in a classic French Chateau style. Inside is a little bit understated except for the restaurant and bar. There is a separate room dedicated to Charlie Chaplin who was a frequent guest.

  • Beautifully restored historical property

Stayed here for one night. This is a beautifully restored historical property. The grounds are immaculate as were the facilities. Onsite restaurant served an excellent lunch with attentive service. We had a chateau room which was very spacious and very clean. The bathroom was beautiful and quite spacious as well. The property looks like it is hired for special events in addition to being a wedding venue. A bridal expo took place while we were here, which added to the festive ambiance during the day. Several small towns are nearby offering a large variety of eating/entertainment options as well as several state parks on the water.
So glad the owner has had the vision to renovate and preserve this amazing property for future generations! We look forward to a repeat visit.

We loved the room, claw foot tub, sangria and dinner was amazing. We took the castle tour also which was very interesting. The owner has done a remarkable job restoring the place and is very friendly. Service was excellent as well.

  • Such a Shame, Beautiful Building with NO Elegance!

by LMarieNYC on 2020-01-20 05:09 am

It is beautiful on the outside BUT it goes down hill rapidly from there. We have stayed in many 5 star castles and hotels around the world and this does NOT meet that standard. On arriving we didn't even know how to enter the building. You enter a dank, poorly lite, very cold foyer. There is absolutely nothing that says to you WOW you are welcomed. The reception room is 2 peoples desks, what are they thinking? Very Pleasant employees but no information, when is breakfast? what is on the grounds? Offer to take bags to our room? .... No Stars here....
    Anyways we did stay overnight...
We first had a drink, we both had a hot drink, the waitress was nice but clearly was never informed of 5 star service. If you are serving hot drinks to 2 people, serve them at the same time so one person isn't finished before the other drink is serviced. No Michelin Stars here.!
The Continental breakfast is the same as an Express Holiday Inn, at least make a homemade Muffin ! I would suggest they change there supplier and use Costco!
The room was pleasant, no amenities (coffee pot), mini bar....
    As said before it's a Shame .....

  • Underwhelming

    by 762lisal on 2020-01-12 03:46 pm

Such a beautiful building from the outside. We went there for our Anniversary dinner. The entranceway was so impressive with its long drawn our garden and large wrought iron gate, the inside of the entrance to the restaurant felt like I was walking into someone's old basement. The hallway was dark, and unkempt. The restaurant is upstairs, which is located by climbing a narrow back staircase. This is inside a castle! A little grandeur would have been nice. A little elegance and even a fresh flower would have made a difference. There was none of that.
The food was good. The dining room was comfortable. Was it worth the price? Nope. I would not go again. Shame.....
