  • Wonderful girl's trip!

    by Stay713993 on 2019-03-18 03:32 am

This is a beautiful historic property located on a picturesque setting. The room was lovely and clean and the hotel staff were kind and hospitable. The only thing that could be improved are the double beds, which were a bit tight for two grown people and not soft enough for someone who sleeps regularly on a memory foam mattress. We already have plans to return for another girl's trip when the weather is more pleasant, so that we enjoy more of the outdoors.

  • Weekend Overnight

    by Laurie H on 2019-03-17 09:34 am

Just completed a nice stay. Began with Lunch in the Tavern with Cobb Salad. It was our only negative. Mostly lettuce & not enough goodies.Service was slow. Checked into our lovely room. Beautifully appointed with a nice side porch. Dinner was at Tillie's. Its at the golf course. Food was delicious and no reservation was needed. Other restaurants required reservations. If you want to eat in the Crytal Dining Room or the Tavern or 1796 restaurants, make your dinner reservations when you book your room. We took a walk into and out of Bedford on the Heritage Trail. Its 3 1/2 miles round trip but mostly level. We had a continental breakfast at the Crystal dining room. The fruit & bread pudding were delicious. Our waitress, Sharon was very attentive. Took a 2 1/2 mile walk along the yellow trail in the mountains above the resort. Very well maintained and marked. Another negative is the resort fee. Totally unneccessary ona $ 225 room. However, the resort was at capacity, so obviously, they can charge it.

  • Disappointed, Especially When a Fire Alarm Awakens You

by SuitcaseCarolyn on 2019-03-15 07:12 pm

This is a traditional spot for "mom group getaways" or "bachelorette weekends." And, we've been very pleased in the past. But this time, not so much. Despite constant assurances that our group of about 10 would have rooms near each other, it didn't happen. We were located all around the hotel--it seemed no attempt was made to keep our party together. Then what happens in the middle of the night? A fire alarm goes off and we must all leave our rooms. Staff members tell us it happens quite a bit and explain when batteries go low in one alarm, it trips the system. What?? If that is incorrect, no one bothered to tell us otherwise. For an Omni, I was shocked to awaken to no apology letter from management, even if it was an accident. Two in our party ended up losing food/wine bags due to inattention from the bellhop and the housekeeper.
Now, to the attributes -- there is a wonderful spa on site. I've never seen baths like these before -- or relaxation rooms. That is worth the trip, so make sure you book a spa option so the baths are included. But, be aware that 20% tips are automatically added to your service. I ended up paying $90 for a regular manicure. (I know, right? Crazy high price.) The swimming pool is exceptional -- large enough for laps, with bromide which is kinder to skin and eyes. And oooooh just the right temperature. All the food is excellent and definitely something to write home about. So, if the staff could get it together and the spa would lower prices, this would definitely be a five star review. I can only hope that happens because this property is beautiful to behold and deserves top notch employees who pay attention to detail.

  • Very overpriced

    by Navigate46683973817 on 2019-03-14 03:48 pm

They add a resort fee that isn't included in the room and it increased from the time we booked versus when we stayed there and we had to pay the higher rate. We ate at the 1796 dining room and were very underwhelmed by the food and felt we over payed for the quality and quantity. I would never recommend eating at the resort.

  • Overnight Escape

    by Edgardo C on 2019-03-13 05:17 pm

This was our third time back, we love the hotel atmosphere, decor and food. We stop over as we travel home to NY. I like all the amenities and convenience of having everything on the property. No driving necessary. We would like to stay longer the next time we come, which would probably be this summer.
