    Elegant stay, great food, consistently pleasant staff, fabulous place to wander around. Conference facilities were great. No complaints. Even the coffee was unusuably good--for conference coffee.
    Pillows & beds are too soft, poor ergonomics....ok for some people.

  • Cost-Cutting in Customer-Facing Room Service

    Previous stays resulted in delicious room service meals, served on a tray with a real plate covered by a metal dome, real silverware, and salt and pepper. Not this time. Pure plastic. No tray. No butter with the bread (which I wasn't eating anyway, but the omission was noted).

  • Could have been better

    Internet is advertised as free but is not in the meeting area. Good spa but prices not advertised on website so you don't know until you pay. Unless you valet, self parking is at the entrance of the facility and no tram service to your room. The rooms are nice but need floorboard repairs. The facility is nice but could not be fully appreciated because of rain and cold weather.

  • Old hotel and poor customer service

    We booked three rooms for three nights, then added another day on the front end to come in early. They could not accommodate the exact room we booked, so we needed to change rooms the 2nd day. The rooms were all in the same area and cleaned by 11a. The room was old and stunk. We went to the front desk to obtain the new room key the next day and they refused to provide until the room was inspected. We checked back in at 1p, still not inspected. Said they would call us. Came back from errands, at 3:30p with no call about the room. Mind you, we were already at the hotel. No apologies until we turned in our check out survey. We left very early on Sunday, and found the hotel hand changed our rate to the higher rate of the night we added. I've traded phone calls with the hotel, but finally gave up. Old rooms, poor service, inconvenient parking. We had been going to the Aviara Hyatt the last few years, fantastic service and amenities. We won't be back to the La Costa Resort, it was a mistake.

  • Great service

    Spent three nights here on a getaway weekend and had a fine time. It had been nearly 30 years since our first visit to La Costa and the property felt very familiar. Our room had some issues - the bathroom light/heater/vent fan was falling down, and to be honest, it doesn't look like the room has been updated in a while. Having said that, the room was spacious and very comfortable. The parking lot outside our building was unlit, and frankly, it was very dangerous as trying to find the walking path in the dark was difficult. Couple that with an early morning flight and it made loading up the car on checkout a pain as well. We did enjoy the spa and the service and facilities there were great. I would rate the spa a bit higher overall than the property itself. The service was outstanding overall...the facilities need some work.
