  • Wonderful stay

    The property is very well kept and has all of the amenities you would expect from an Omni resort...nice rooms, several pools, great lounges and a full golf and tennis program. What really set this experience apart was the service though. Every interaction we had, no matter if it was the front desk, the bellman, the pro shop, or housekeeping, was beyond professional and courteous. Every staff member truly went out of their way to ensure we were having the best possible experience. Highly recommended.

    Had a company retreat at the Omni and found it to be a great location.
    Facilities, food and service all excellent.
    Bar service was occasionally slow but I would be being picky if I were to state anything else.
    Couldn't fault it.

  • Terrible experience

    We booked the Omni La Costa - two rooms for us and my in-laws booked a room as well - for five nights. I'm seriously glad that we had lots of plans to do things with the kids at the nearby attractions. Normally we book these resorts so we don't have to leave, but if we hadn't, I think I would have hated Omni even more than I already do.

    We had a good experience at their restaurant for breakfast on a Saturday morning, so we decided we would just eat there for dinner on Sunday evening after returning from Disney. It was empty. Not another guest. There was another party that came in after us but I never paid any attention.

    Anyway, without going into too much detail, a situation arose, and Omni's night time food and beverage manager decided to take the other party's side, took no discretion even with the obvious situation that there were only two parties and if you tell us someone complained, well then, guess who complained? Instead of diffusing the situation, she made it much, much worse, allowing it to escalate to the other party to threaten physical violence.

    I went upstairs to speak with Omni's front desk manager and she agreed with my complaints and asked me what I wanted with this situation - which I find irritating because isn't that THEIR job to figure out how to resolve situations? It shouldn't be MY job as a guest to resolve problems for them. I told her I wanted an apology. I did not ask for freebies or compensation or anything. Just an apology for souring my evening and mishandling a situation by taking sides and making sure we felt awful about it all.

    The next day I received an email from the general manager apologizing for the "inconvenience"and offering a phone conference at 10:30AM. He then calls and leaves me a voicemail that confirmed my suspicions - hoping that the situation was resolved and that we all get passed this issue. I wrote back and said the situation was not resolved, I was disappointed in my experience. No response after that. No apologies. Nothing.

    Omni takes no accountability nor responsibility, choosing to downplay and sweep problems under the rug.

    The valets were quite irritating - they would hover as if they were geese hawking for tips. They would keep asking when I was going to leave as I'm buckling my two little kids in their carseats. At $34/night for valet parking, I would like to be left alone, especially during their non-peak season in January.

    I will not be staying here again. I will gladly pay more just to be left alone so I can enjoy my very rare vacation with my family. There are enough other competitors around San Diego to not waste any more time on this place.

  • Beautiful Resort, Amazing Grounds

    Had a two night stay over Christmas. The resort is beautiful and the flowers and landscaping are amazing. The rooms were nice sized but the carpet was stained and faded. The style of the interior decor is charming but needs refreshing.

  • Hotel could be amazing

    We came for a quick 3 night trip and had to switch rooms after check in. I was inaccurately told that we were leaving a premium room for a lower tier, but didn't mind less space because we needed a bathtub with two young children. Near check out, the staff was incredibly rude and essentially told me I was lying about being told the room we had switched to was a downgrade. We didn't even necessarily expect a change in rate, but just asked to inquire. I could not believe how bad I was made to feel and how argumentative the staff was. We stay at Omni hotels often and have always had great experiences
