  • Solo traveler experience

    As a solo traveler, overall it was a really good experience. The staff was so kind and accomodating, and the food was amazing. Extra services are unreasonably pricey. So if you're only going for the view and want a friendly environment, then go to the Omni!

  • Nice Old World style hotel

    One of the nicest things about the hotel is its location right on the River-walk canal. This is an old building renovated into the hotel and a fair amount of time and money has been spent to give it the old Spanish style look. That money was well spent.
    The exterior architecture is well maintained and elegant as are the interior decor of the restaurants.

    The one thing to keep in mind is that all the rooms are not the same. This is a hotel where I suspect it pays to upgrade to a more expensive room. The least expensive rooms are OK but not great. In the room we were in it was clear this was a renovated old hotel and it was a fairly typical old hotel room. It was all they had left. The reason the hotel was full was because of a Comic con convention in town. So, it turned out that the unimpressive room was somewhat offset by getting to ride one evening in the elevator with an impressive version of Barbarella. But, I digress.

    We found the service very courteous and pretty efficient. The one area of inefficiency and complication is the valet parking. The valets do a yeoman's job keeping the drop-off/valet area less painful. But, the valet parking/drop-off is a logistical bottleneck. If you are in a large SUV or pick-up truck be prepared to squeeze that dog through a cat door. To make it worse, the overnight self-park is across the street with up and down ramps that have a turning radius and clearance that will make a Mini Cooper sweat.

    I also think our room must have been near an elevator because we had to hear that loud elevator motor all night long -- if that's what it was. So, to be safe ask for a room far away from the elevators.

We are fortunate to have a property in the heart of San Antonio's River Walk that brings our guests just a few steps away from must-see attractions.You are correct in saying that all of our rooms are not the same. Since we were once a school before converting to a hotel, the rooms are all unique. We like to think that this adds charm to our property. We hope to welcome you back soon when your travels allow.

  • Beautiful place

    We were in town for a friend's birthday and decided to pay a little more for a riverwalk room at this hotel. There was a bit of a mixup at check in though. They verbally told us a room number that was different from what they wrote on our card packet, but it turns out both were wrong. I'm sure we scare whoever was in those rooms. They probably thought someone was trying to break in or something. We had to go back down to the check in desk to get it figured out but we finally got our correct room number. I also asked the front desk to call those rooms we were trying to get in so they weren't freaking out thinking someone was trying to break in. They agreed they would call. The room itself was nice. It's an older, Spanish feel but nice. The only thing I didnt care for was the shared balcony that overlooked the riverwalk. The balcony is shared by three different rooms. We didnt see anyone else out there while we were out there, but a nice private space would have been nice. I know there are some private balcony rooms available for an extra fee. We used valet which was convenient, but there is a public parking garage right across the street. Overall a nice place with a friendly staff.

  • Lovely property

    Older hotel but well maintained. Staff was amazing, customer service is their priority. There was a problem with the water pressure in our shower, they sent someone right up to attend to it and then have a discount on one night stay. Free delivered to room coffee/tea each morning. Nice touch!

  • This place is a dream!

    Love the hotel, the decor and staff are absolutely customer focused. A pleasure to stay here again.
    The location of the hotel could not be better- right on the riverwalk and within walking distances to many key points in the city.

    Rooms are spacious, comfortable and equipped with all amenities to make my stay as pleasant as possible.

    I highly recommend breakfast at Las Canarias!
