  • âspecialâ room was anything but special.

I was told my room was a special room, because I was the first person to stay in it after the remodel. Problems began when room service was unable to fit the table into the room. After I helped move a large dresser and a bedside table, they were finally able to get the table in. I had ordered a cheese plate, planning to have it with a friend in the morning. Went to put it in the "chiller" and discovered chiller was not working. Discovered it was not plugged in, so again moved large dresser, plugged it in...nothing. I suspect someone knew it didn't work, so didn't bother with the plug. Then the real fiasco began. No dial tone on room phone, so called the hotel from my cell. Engineering came up, fixed the phone and confirmed chiller was not working. Left, saying they would bring another one up. Over 45 minutes later, someone showed up with a mini-fridge. Since it clearly did not fit in the cubby where the chiller lived, he planned to plug it in and place it under the desk. Thus, I would not be able to work at the desk, and would have to climb under to use it. His other idea was to plug it in and put it on the floor under the window. I said no thanks, I'm not paying for a dorm room. I have a meeting here tomorrow, and that is not a professional look at all. I called the front desk to ask about getting moved so my very expensive cheese plate did not have to spoil. They said they would send up a new chiller. Explained firmly that the rooms did not have fridges, only chillers that would keep food at a certain temperature. Another engineer came up, empty handed, and asked if I wanted a new fridge. He could put it under the desk, or move furniture out into the room and put it in the corner. Mind you, this was all taking place after 10:30 at night. I said no thanks. He left. I climbed up into the very hard bed, put my head on the very skimpy pillow (flattens to literally an inch when you put your head down), and in the morning will see about moving rooms for the next 3nights of my stay. First - and probably last stay in an Omni.

  • Old world charm needs some modernization

I stayed at the Omni Shoreham for a conference. The lobby is large and lovely. The room was nicely sized, but definitely showed its age, with flaking wall paper and scuffed furniture, as well as spotty wi-fi. The room was also quite cold to me, and I did not have control over the heat to increase it. The concierge was helpful and the buffet breakfast was expensive, but extensive and tasty. The check out staff, however, was not the best and after leaving I discovered an additional charge from the hotel on my credit card. I am still trying to get someone to either explain the charge to me, or remove it. The parking is very expensive ($52/night) but we couldn't figure out any better options. The hotel is walking distance to the zoo and a quick subway ride to most other local attractions.

  • Awful Rooms

The bathroom was very small and mold was on the shower ceiling. The room ceiling had water stains and the wallpaper was peeling away from the wall. The worse was that one of my coworkers had Roaches in her room. Terrible place

This hotel is INFESTED with cockroaches. What's worse, is when canceling the rest of the stay after seeing them, the management staff clearly knew of the issue and was still operating.

They were found in the bathroom of my suite, where about 20x 1" bugs scattered when I turned on the light... I was able to get pictures of the babies still crawling through the "clean" towels in my room (pics attached).

The hotel itself is very run down and the halls look like something straight out of the Shining...
