  • Excellent facility

by Equitydiva on 2019-10-29 09:23 am

Read the negative reviews and went there expectant for bugs. None. Upto date rooms and toilet facilities. For a hotel that old they've done pretty well. Bed was clean and comfy. it was an old style bed but I think that was intentional to give you the feel of being in the past Mattress was great. Yellow blanket needs to go though. VERY OLD. Bathroom was state of the art. Needed to be mopped around the edge. I could tell because the "paper dust" from many months of people pulling toilet paper had accumulated on the edge tile.
Large wardrobe. Enough charging stations for my many devices.
Courteous staff at reception and Ryder Cups restaurant bar. I got am exclusive BMW ride from airport to hotel. Driver was very friendly. He gave me a quick history lesson and driving tour of facility when i mentioned i was sleeping only one night. Shuttle bus driver was really cool next day. Arrived on time and took us to airport in a fancy shuttle with reclining seats. I maximized out and slept till i got to the airport. Will go back with my son for maybe a golf practice class.

Prepare your mind to be comfy seeing way tons of middle aged to old white males. I think it's the nature of golf! But nobody bothered me. They were there to enjoy themselves.

  • Try a 3 bedroom condo

    by Trodent79 on 2019-10-11 05:37 am

We expected to stay at the resort but since we arrived so late we were offered a 3 bedroom condo and loved it! Thanks Carolina Hotel for how you handled this situation. You offered us the opportunity to stay at the hotel for or second night but we loved the seclusion of this condo so we didn't move.
This condo was extensively decorated and functionally complete which is really the reason for this review. As a couple we certainly didn't need a 3 bedroom condo, but if we were a larger group, I would have felt very comfortable staying in this condo. We have stayed in furnished suites before, which contained only the basic necessities, however this condo was extensively furnished which we appreciated.
Our condo was located on the lake shore which we enjoyed from the large 20+ foot outdoor balcony with rocking chairs.

  • Beware of the Condos!

    by jsnoll95 on 2019-10-07 02:48 am

My friend and I just returned from a women's golf trip to Pinehurst. Unfortunately, no rooms were available in the Carolina so we opted for one of the two bedroom condos. It was AWFUL! I frankly cannot believe that a property of such high esteem would be willing to rent a property of this poor quality. It was FILTHY! Dead cock roaches and other bugs behind every door, curtain, chair, in the closets, and on window sills--basically everywhere. Disgusting stains on the carpets throughout. The TVs, phones, coffee pot, and hair dryer were non-functioning. Dresser surfaces in the bedrooms were coated in thick dust. Fortunately, the sheets and towels were clean, the pillows were acceptable and the view of the lake was nice. These are important positives but for $400/night at a very reputable resort, one expects much more. The staff was pleasant and said all the right things but none of the promised repairs/fixes (with the exception of two non-functioning lightbulbs) were done. Ultimately, they compensated us for two of the four nights which was appreciated but I would have much preferred to pay the full price and have a better unit. Some of the other ladies on our trip also had condos and theirs were recently refurbished and clean so clearly they are available. If you choose this option, be sure to avoid Lakeview 109!!!!!!!

  • Unimpressive

    by OhioTravel26 on 2019-09-14 06:14 am

I have been to almost every five star golf resort in the United States

Wow this place reeks of history and nostalgia, the rooms are terrible. The hallways are noisy. The amenities are very outdated and the place needs a total upgrade. If you're not sure what this looks like, go google the lodge a Pebble beach and see what their rooms are like . Or the American club at Kohler.
Concierge would not even help me arrange transportation to the airport. They said I had to do it myself.
Overall the location is good But you're going to overpay for this place.

This is a golf resort on a prized PGA golf course in a beautiful woodsy setting with a lot of silence, peace, pine trees dropping pine cones, and dirt paths that brach off from golf cart lanes to being alone in nature. The hotel has nice rooms, staff, + food.
