  • We loved this classic old hotel!

    by bryen2 on 2019-07-15 03:53 pm

This hotel was the ONLY hotel in Lahaina until the 1960s and it is still the best location for visiting Lahaina with its tourist activities, shops, galleries and eateries. It has been wonderfully preserved and maintained. Our room was not large, but contained a Queen sized bed, a big easy chair, TV, internet service, a brand new, bright and clean bathroom, closet, ironing equipment and folding stands for suitcases. A door led out to the verandah furnished with rocking chairs from which we could overlook the busy street and listen to live music from the park, yet was amazingly quiet when the time came for sleep. The front desk clerk who welcomed us was fantastic: he walked outside with me to write down the license number of our rental car for the free parking sticker, then later carried our 'lost' bags right up to our room for us when the airline finally delivered them. The in-room air conditioner allowed us to stay cool all night in spite of the heat. We had requested an early check-in and were granted the privilege of entering our room at 10 a.m. after an all-night flight to Maui from American Samoa. We loved the place!

right there on the ocean. Step outside and sit by the ocean. Touristy store downstairs. Nice restaurant too. Rooms have a balcony with chairs. Across the street from the famous park with the old Banyan tree. tons of restaurant and bars on the street. You will hear noise from the bars.

  • Great value and location!

We had a great experience at the Pioneer Inn. We left our timeshare because it was so uncomfortable, and found the Pioneer Inn. It's air-conditioned, reasonably priced, fantastic location. You are in the heart of Lahaina, so there are many things to do and food options. It's an historic hotel, so it's old but well maintained. All rooms are the same size, have a queen bed and a small refrigerator.

The hotel has two sides. One side overlooks the pool and the other side overlooks the street. We needed quiet, and they gave us a room on the pool side. Perfect! There is a small covered lanai with two rocking chairs to each room.

We would go back here to stay.

  • Very clean and quiet

Wow....location, location, location. Beautiful view of harbor, ferry dock steps away along with lots of shopping and great places to eat. Next door to historical Banyan Tree. Room is on the small side, coffee maker in room with refrigerator. A/c worked great which is a plus when it is very hot outside. Down side, no elevator but only 20 steps up to your room. Upside, one of the best restaurants is downstairs. Would definitely stay here again. Great value for the money.

  • One Night in Lahaina

by kwhy on 2019-06-16 06:00 am

I was staying by myself for one night in Lahaina. I wanted to be in town on Front Street so I could walk around and enjoy the scenery. This hotel fit the bill of well located and not terribly expensive.

This is a charming historic hotel and it is in an excellent location convenient to everything. It has a beautiful balcony where you can sit and people watch. It is an older property so the rooms are small and a little dated but that is part of the charm and not unexpected.

The hotel is located next to the marina so it can get a little busy early morning and in the late afternoon when tourists are catching boats for snorkeling, fishing and sunset excursions. However, I didn't find this to be a problem. You get an amazing sunset on the seawall just north of the marina.

This is a great option if you want to stay in town and don't have a car. I also felt safe and secure as a solo female traveler.
