  • A gem in paradise.

This is an older hotel,118 years old and was a gem. I love that Best Western is keeping these type properties in their stable. This is a one of a kind experience on Maui. The heart of Lahaina and the soul of the village. Sitting on the private porch watching the world go by was awesome.

  • Everything at the doorstep

Spending in Maui for few days and we're so glad we find this gem in the heart of the centre.

It's literally in the cetnre of everything, if you fly to the right airport, it just take you 10-15 mintues by taxi directly to hotel, no hassle, just right on spot. And once you arrived, you will find out the pier is just at doorstep. So if you planning to do any boat trip/ whale watching/ sunset cruising, you'll love this hotel, it'll save you a lot of time.

And for the room, to be honest it's not spacious but it's decent with a little balcony. If you are on a honeymoon, pick the one that have the sea view, they got the best sunset there.

We didnt have breakafst here but there's many choice just across the street, and the outlet just 10 mintues away if you wanna do some last mintue shopping.

If I ever come back to Maui, I will stay here again for sure :)

  • Location, location, location

We read many hotel reviews before booking this place for our stay with friends. It is located near the wharf and literally on the ocean side in the heart of Lahaina. Yes, it is a historic building and that means they cannot change certain aspects of the rooms et al. That, however, is more than made up for by the charm of the place. Our room was wonderful and clean. Air conditioner worked great and a ceiling fan added to the comfort. A nice deck off the room overlooked the courtyard with mature trees, pool and, at least in our room, an ocean view. A fridge allowed us to purchase some breakfast materials to save money as no breakfast is included. We did pay extra for parking that was very close by. Very easy walking to most shopping in Lahaina. All in all a lovely stay and very memorable.

  • Excellent Stay

    by wrome014 on 2019-03-03 01:49 am

We stayed at the Pioneer Inn for four nights back in June 2017. We had an excellent stay there. First of all, the hotel is located in a great location. We were able to walk mostly anywhere in Lahaina. Secondly, they provided free parking for guests staying in the hotel. It was great because we were able to do a lot of a lot of our own day excursions like to road to Hana. We were located on the second floor and we had a great view of the harbour as well. The facilities were clean and staff were always courteous. My only criticism is that there was a lot of construction being done when we stayed there and they started work quite early. However, there is not much the staff can do about that as the hotel was doing renovations. It's a great place to stay for a nice relaxing retreat.

This is our second stay with BW Pioneer inn.
We had been to Lahaina twice before, but missed the whale season both times, so we decided to go back again, just to see them and do some up close watching.
The hotel is without doubt, the best place to stay in order to do this, just 50 yards from the water and about 100 yards from the whale charter boats slips.
Being (almost) certain I was a whaler in a previous life, I just love the atmosphere that the Pioneer Inn has...... what it is.
It is not glitzy and glamorous, nor does it try to be so. Instead, it relies on several other things to attract guests. Character, Location, Service and great food.
The "Character" comes from it having been built in 1901, in the Plantation style.
"Location" from it being on Front St. and right on Lahaina Harbour opposite the wharf.
"Service" comes from its fantastic staff who made our stay very enjoyable.
"Great food" comes from the bar and grill with its fabulous menu including the worlds best breakfast Pancakes and Mowi Wowi omelettes......and their Pina Coladas are EXLNT..... sigh.
As mentioned above, the staff are a big plus point for this establishment, Patti, Angelica, Andre, Gina, all deserve mentions but 2 of them, Dom and Samantha, deserve extra praise for going the extra mile for us.

We stayed in room 40 a King room. Its the hotels most spacious room and is well equipped. Because its a corner room, the Lanai is an awkward shape, but is still comfortable and we enjoyed sipping cocktails out there.
There is just one draw back to room 40. Because the hotel has no lifts, there are 2 stair cases and one of them is directlky beneath the Lanai. The stairs have metal non slip treads on them that rattle when stepped on and every night we were disturbed by late arrival or early exit of guests.

My wife and I are already planning our next trip to Lahaina, and when we do visit again, we'll definitely stay in the Best Western Pioneer Inn.

    WELL DONE Pioneer Inn.
