Awards & Accolades

The elaborate canal houses of Pulitzer Amsterdam date back to the mid-to-late 1700s. It was not until 1960 that these excellent buildings were discovered by Peter Pulitzer, who converted 10 of the houses into a luxurious boutique hotel. Adjacent to the Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht canals, guests could marvel at the surrounding landscape with ease. Pulitzer’s grandson, Joseph Pulitzer, subsequently took over the establishment, and carefully crafted the building to resemble its current appearance. Numerous original historic features remain untouched, such as the Pharmacy room within the hotel’s stunning restaurant. This space is particularly special, because it is just one of only two 17th-century spaces to exist within Amsterdam. Pulitzer Amsterdam exhibits a prime location at the center of the city of Amsterdam. The hotel sits within the historic Canal District, which is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Travelers can easily meander over to the city’s top museums, boutique shopping districts, and world-class restaurants from the Pulitzer Amsterdam. This marvelous historic treasure is steps away from numerous cultural landmarks in Amsterdam, such as the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, and the Vondelpark.
