  • Historic but not tired! Interesting finds around each corner.

    by Tara H on 2018-09-20 12:29 am

The staff at The Historic Sheridan Inn really strive to make staying there an experience, and they have succeeded! My 10-year-old son and I stayed for 2 nights in July and loved it! We visited with the manager for probably 2 hours as she had so much interesting history to share. She even took us on a tour of the building. My son was so engaged! At check-in you get an information sheet for your room's namesake - Ned Buntline in our case - which is a fun touch. We also found homemade scones waiting in our room for us. Rooms are comfortable and clean, and photos online really don't do the guest rooms justice (I was a little nervous before arriving). There are no TVs in the rooms, which was fine. Bathrooms were recently remodeled to a high standard and spotless. Breakfast was simple but nice. There is a sizable lounge area on each floor that is well-stocked with games, books, hot drinks, and comfortable furniture. The decor throughout was tasteful Old West, not overdone. We would like to return in the winter when the big fire place is going!

Thank you so much for staying with us! It was such a pleasure to have you and your son stay with us! I truly hope you can bring the rest of the family and visit in the winter. Spending time sharing the history and stories of this building is, without a doubt, the best part of my job here at the Inn.

I am very pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

  • This is a beautiful place

    by cr159 on 2018-09-19 07:34 pm

Had the opportunity to visit this lovely building and it is something that's been around for well over a hundred years. It's fabulous the design its just great. Problems that they have had over the years reducing the number of rooms from 53 without bathrooms to just 23 either with bathrooms or suites. Unfortunately they have had problems with staff and earlier this year had to close both the restaurant and bar but looking at it you realize what a wonderful place it was and can be again. Worth a visit.

  • Buffalo Bills Hotel

    by Rev Marcus E B on 2018-09-18 11:49 am

Truly an historic place with an original Buffalo Bill bar & dance floor (with bullet holes). A trip back in time & a chance to have a whiskey (or drink) at the same bar Buffalo Bill drank at & ordered from England. It was transported to the end of the rail line & put into his hotel ... what an awesome trip back in time.

  • Worth a look.

We only drove by but its certainly worth a look. Didnt try to count gables. Train depot across the road looked derelict

Thank you for giving us a look! The Inn was featured in 'Ripley's Believe it or Not' as the "House of 69 Gables". If you get the opportunity to visit again, stop in to see the inside of the building. Call ahead and we will book you a room for the night to get the full experience.

The Railroad District that we are in has been neglected for many years. Thankfully, there are folks out there who know the value of the history the buildings here share and they are working hard at bringing this part of town back to life. The depot is currently undergoing some much needed renovations. Next time you come through, this area will be very different!

  • Western Hit

    by Rick V on 2018-09-15 07:57 am

We stayed in the Lillian Frances Smith room - small very cozy impeccably period decorated. The bathroom was most welcoming (included a claw foot tub) after a long days travel. Staff very friendly, fun, and even assisted with carrying my luggage. A complete welcome packet was provided including history of the room, things to do in Sheridan, and places to eat. A tasteful continental breakfast completed our experience.
    Thank you, Rick
