  • Not a 5 star experience, loud and poor service

    We stayed in a Grand King Suite. The room was nice, newly updated, bathroom was beautiful, and it was clean. But this is not a 5 star hotel.

    First, no one helped with luggage or showed us to our room. This is fine - but it's not at the service level of a 5 star hotel. Second, the only options for beverages in the room were alcohol. They bring water at turn down, but I was dying of thirst before then. We looked first for a vending machine or something on our floor, there were none, and then went down to the desk where they got us some water. Water is pretty basic and should just be available in the room, I shouldn't need to go hunting for it and I shouldn't need to bother the desk staff for it every time I need a bottle.

    However, the biggest issue was noise. The Grand King Suite was on the second floor of a three floor building. Unfortunately, the people staying above us were very, VERY loud. Noise during the day is no big deal, but I mean they were running around back and forth at 10 - 11 pm at night, stomping, slamming things, etc.

    The first night we had to call the desk staff three times before anything was done about it. They offered to move us, but offered to move us to an inferior room. We came out here for a romantic couples weekend in what we thought was a luxury hotel, not to stay in just your average hotel room (and we definitely didn't pay what we paid to stay in an average hotel room). My partner asked about moving the people above us, since they were the ones actually making the noise to begin with, and it was only then that the desk staff actually seemed to investigate or do anything about the noise.

    Did management (or anyone) check in with us the next day, as would be typical of a 5 star hotel if a guest had an issue? No, of course not.

    Our second night, we'd hoped the people had checked out or maybe would have settled down. They did not, and again, we had the same issue stretching late into the night. We called the desk staff more than once (again) before the people above us quieted down. We debated about just leaving and driving back home in the middle of the night.

    On check out, the front desk staff asked how our stay was. We repeated that there were issues with noise on both nights, that we had to repeatedly reach out about it before anything was done. We were polite, but at that point we'd had enough and knew we'd never return to the hotel.

    This is not a 5 star hotel. The service level and attention to detail is just not there. Would not recommend.

  • Hosted my daughter's wedding; BVI was awesome

    My daughter's wedding was held at BVI in Feb 2019. The staff was professional from the initial meeting, and went out of their way to make sure everything was excellent. We had a noon - 5 pm ceremony and reception, and never felt rushed. The menu selected was excellent, with the filet mignon and salmon exceeding expectations. A very classy establishment, recommended highly for the most special of occasions.
    Visited their restaurant separately in advance to sample the menu; it was also excellent. Bets service of any restaurant in New Hampshire.

  • Birthday Getaway

    Birthday weekend escape with my wife - had dinner at the main restaurant. Amazingly good. Not inexpensive but well worth it for a special occasion. Our waiter, Matthew, was outstanding! Attentive, knowledgeable, professional and humorous. Would highly recommend him - but he's only there Friday & Saturday nights. Seared ahi was terrific, and my wife's filet was awesome. 2nd visit for us - will definitely return. Chocolate bag for dessert was crazy good - notice the pic with the dark chocolate birthday plaque?

  • Wonderful Stay!

    We were visiting for a wedding and stayed at The Grand. We arrived after midnight, and they were very accommodating and waiting for us. We had a king room, and the room was huge and beautiful. Everything was spotless and well-appointed, and we loved the chocolate chip cookies waiting in the room! The bathroom was beautiful as well. We had one meal at the tavern and the food and service were great. The continental breakfast wasn't too elaborate, but it was good. Would definitely recommend!

  • Quick lunch

    We had lunch in the "new and improved " tavern at the BVI and the food was delicious the staff very attentive and the Parmesan fries were amazing! So wonderful to have this so close. The only thing I would advise is to raise the couch seating to match the chairs.
