  • Some of the best staff with GREAT hospitality

    Hello, I wanted to send a personal acknowledgement of my recent stay at the Boar's Head Resort. I had traveled to Charlottesville for pleasure to watch the UVA/FSU football game. At first, it appeared I would not have a place I could stay due to "Expedia" having the locations as 'sold out.' I decided to try to call local venues and did so with Boar's Head as well. I was quickly connected with Assistant Guest Services Manager-James Miles. Mr. Miles was extremely pleasant to speak with, recognized and understood my situation and readily identified availability for me. I was thoroughly impressed with his responsiveness, professionalism and overall hospitality he displayed on the phone during my dilemma.
    Thinking I had experienced the extent of the hospitality, I arrived only to find I was WRONG. The front desk staff were very friendly, and I was again also greeted with Mr. Miles. He quickly assisted in getting me checked in and directed me where to go on the beautiful grounds of the resort. Upon entry into my room, I noted it was rather warm. In further inspection, I found the air to not be working efficiently. Mr. Miles had directed me to use the tablet if I had any concerns when I had checked in. As such, I went to the tablet and successfully identified a maintenance need for my A/C. To my surprise, I had a technician in my room in less than 10 minutes. The technician reset the A/C, did something to flush it, and then the air began working well.
    Mr. Miles sent a welcome and apologies package of cheese to our room although he did not have to. That gesture just continued to solidify my assertion that the hospitality, professionalism, mannerism, cleanliness, responsiveness, and overall desire to achieve customer satisfaction and demonstrate customer appreciation was demonstrated in abundance at the Boar's Head. Mr. Miles is perhaps the first most approachable and considerate assistant manager I have ever encountered in my years of travel, in attending a great number of professional conferences, etc. He exemplified what all hotels, motels, resorts, and any customer serving agency should exemplify. Having only met him for the first time this trip, I have raved of the customer friendly atmosphere the wonderful d?cor and the responsive staff for the facilities since my leaving. In fact, I can honestly say, I was saddened to leave the resort after having experienced this. While he was gracious and accommodating, he was also HUMBLE and demonstrated humility first. Please accept my deepest thanks/gratitude for the selection of this young man as your assistant guest services manager and perhaps he can educate other facilities of those qualities he possesses as well. I don't know what his present compensation package is, but I would venture to say it is not near his worth or near what he yields your facility in such graciousness and hospitality. Thank you again.   • Negative experience with usually good quality resort

    I have stayed at the Boar's Head somewhere between 5 and 10 times, most often for a seminar that is given on the property. I look forward to the stay, given the room quality and lovely location. This time was different. I arrived at my room at 10 p.m., and the room temperature was an unbearable 80 degrees. It could not be fixed through the wall switch, so I had to call the front desk. The engineer spent a half hour in the room, and purportedly fixed it, but the room temperature never got below 77 degrees. It made for an uncomfortable night.

  • Anniversary Stay

    Amazing customer service provided by James at the Front Desk, Ovi in the Mill Room and Erick in the Mill Room. Rooms are beautiful and comfortable. Mill Room food is perfect for any setting! We celebrated our anniversary and had the best visit!

  • Football Night

    Very convenient place to stay after a late UVA Football game. Coffee in the morning on the front terrace is very relaxing. Additionally, the proximity to our daughter's apartment made the Boar's Head an easy choice.

  • Wonderful resort!

    We enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Boar's Head. When we arrived a very friendly older gentlemean welcomed us and directed us to the front desk. We were greeted by Fiona, who was very friendly and professional. Such a lonely front desk person. I reserved a lake view room with a patio/balcony, but when we arrived we were told that we would be on the 3rd floor in the main building. Lesson learned....I should have called a couple of days before to confirm. Fiona said that she would confer with her manager to inquire about our reservations. We were told that there was a leak...and then told that there would be noise the next morning from construction....thus that is why we were placed in another building. We were also told that they would need to listen to the recording of our reservation???? Nevertheless, after about a 30-minute wait in the lobby, we were assigned to a lake view room with a balcony. We were given breakfast vouchers for our delayed check-in. Every staff member was courteous and friendly. The facility is well kept and very clean. We enjoyed walking around the lake. The afternoon desserts and coffee were an enjoyable treat in the lobby area. Breakfast in The Mill Room was excellent with such great friendly service and a beautiful view. We also enjoyed massages at The Spa and once again encountered such friendly, helpful staff. We were celebrating our anniversary and were plesantly surprised that the resort dropped off two coffee table books about the Charlottesville area with a Happy Anniversary note. Such a nice, considerate touch. We did have one meal at The Racquets restuarant...and unfortunately it wasn't very good. I would recommend sticking with The Mill restaurant if eating on site. We look forward to returning. I imagine that the resort if just beautiful when the Fall leaves are changing colors.
