    My wife and I live in Louisville. When we are unable to make a week or weekend retreat from the normal everyday rhythms of life we take a night out - about twice a year - and stay at The Brown Hotel. There is so much good to say about this Hotel. Sometimes words are inadequate to describe an experience. One thing is for sure: should you decide to stay at The Brown Hotel you will not be disappointed. This Hotel is First Class. I encourage anyone who reads this review to stay overnight to experience all this Hotel has to offer.

    My boyfriend and i stayed at this hotel and overall our experience was fair. We had my car parked via valet. When my car arrived the next morning, we realized someone had broken into my car. I spoke with the Director of Operations. He assured us he would call me to inform me of who might have broken into my car (obviously it had to be an employee because my 2015 Audi doors lock unless someone failed to lock it), but it took me several times to reach out to him to follow up.

    About two days ago I learned (about two weeks after I stay) they did refund me the money for my valet services, but they still failed to provide me with the name of the third party company that they parked the car. I just contacted a manager and he shared the parking garage is owned by the city. I have been waiting to hear back because I had a coach purse stolen (i left it in the arm rest and it's my change purse) and I believe a jacket from my trunk.

    This makes me wonder as an attorney how many others might have things stolen. As a business, you are aware of who works shifts and this says a lot of my car was broken into and no one seems to know who worked that night...

    I sent him messages that were read that I'm still waiting on a reply from.

    Beautiful hotel, excellent staff. We had some drinks in the Lobby and Durian was attentive and very helpful. Try the Ali Smash-it's amazing! The entire place is just breathtaking. The food is amazing-I've had a Hot Brown before but not there so I decided to try the original. Definitely needed a nap afterwards but it was totally worth it! Bacon is bacon, but The Brown has the absolutely best bacon I have ever tasted. Will definitely stay there again the next time I am in Louisville.

    Like so many of us, the Brown is showing her age. The last few decades she has passed through many hands, and it shows. At first glance she is a beautiful, old treasure. But after awhile you notice the gorgeous hand carved bar is seriously beat up! Chairs could use upholstery cleaning and carpets need seriously cleaned or replaced. The staff is excellent. And it is still a grand old lady. But I would love to see a little TLC given.

  • Classic hotel

    Great classic hotel, takes you back in time but with all the amenities we expect.
    The food in all three restaurants was great along with great service. They did everything possible when one of the restaurants suddenly got very busy.
    Rooms were quiet, you rarely could tell anyone else was staying there.
