  • Nice Hotel Great Location

by IAGormando on 2019-12-10 05:50 am

We like staying near Dupont Circle for the convenience of Metro and restaurants in the area. The room was well done, the service was very accommodating. We did not use the restaurant or the quick food bistro as we felt that both were rather pricey.

Highly recommend. Charming hotel. Staff is attentive and friendly. Terrific area to walk to museums, shopping, yummy coffee shops and restaurants. Can't wait to go back. Shared a suite with my daughter and sister. King bed in bedroom, sleeper sofa in separate living room. Big bathroom

  • Great location, style shame about breakfast

    by 755samo on 2019-12-04 10:09 am

The hotel is really well located, close to metro & a lot of good restaurants and also embassy's if on business travel.
The hotel ground floor is stylish, well presented and modern touch but maintains its architecture and history.
Rooms are clean and good size, they lack modern amenities e.g. charging points, no slippers or bath robes and could do with face lift like shower is VERY basic! The breakfast is INTERESTING... costs USD 25 plus USD 2.50 tax where it's served on paper plates & plastic cutlery consist of tiny selection, stale pastries, coffee in paper cups and militant staff who's only job as I could understand it is to ensure you pay for enormous cost as they don't help or assist in any way! If you don't get free breakfast DONT pay. Staff are not the most friendly or interactive except check in staff who are very friendly and happy to help.
Not 4 star but good for business.

  • Our "Home Away from Home" in DC

    by cdel1 on 2019-12-02 02:02 pm

We love The Fairfax at Embassy Row! This hotel is conveniently located in the Dupont Circle neighborhood and there are lots of restaurants, shopping, etc within easy walking distance. What we love most of all is the wonderful staff. Everyone is so helpful and friendly, we are warmly welcomed back each time. A special shout out to Rama, who kindly greets us each time and is so congenial as he carries in our luggage or makes suggestions for places to eat.
The rooms are extremely clean and well appointed with very comfortable beds. We always stay in a suite and our last room was 306. It was big and very quiet with lots of storage for our belongings. The restaurant is good for breakfast or a quick snack. And the bar is very lovely. We really can't say enough good things about The Fairfax at Embassy Row. When we are staying in DC, it's our home.

  • Traditional Well located hotel

    by christina175 on 2019-11-25 12:53 am

It is well located in a nice area close to restaurants, subway and buses in DuPont circle. It's near some fantastic buildings, some of which are now embassies. Opposite is the lovely little Phillips gallery which is well worth a visit. When we checked in we were given a room with no bath which was quickly swapped for another which had one. Although it didn't have a view the room was spacious and nicely furnished. There was a coffee maker but the cups were disposable ...yuck! The bathroom was also spacious but plain....needed more storage space and a mirror which someone of 6'2" could see in. We were told on arrival that the rip off amenity fee included free wine every day in the bar at the managers reception......but when we decided to ask for this we were met with a bartender who pretended he didn't know what I meant and said the manager was out. Eventually we got a bit of white wine in a plastic glass! A soft drink could not be served instead....all very strange and inhospitable! Another incongruous thing was a rather scruffy, casual door man who looked more like a bouncer who hung around in the foyer and didn't seem to fit with the style of the hotel. The corridors and landings of the hotel were grand and elegant as was another foyer and grand staircase which wasn't in general use but probably unfortunately reserved for events and conferences. The rest of the ground floor seems to have had a bit of a modern makeover....which was ok but seemed at odds with a grander style which I guess the hotel had in its heyday. Didn't see much sign of food so didn't have any... ate breakfast at DuPont circle and found some excellent local restaurants.. an Italian, a Russian and a Greek for dinner. The hotel had all we needed and was quiet and comfortable but did have some odd quirks which could do with ironing out .
