  • Beautiful historic hotel

    by Susan S on 2019-02-18 08:24 am

Although this building was previously an apartment building, it has been converted to a hotel with careful attention to the original architecture. All the modern conveniences are available in an excellent location within DC. Only suggestion would be to obtain lamps that have outlets in them to plug in cell phones/laptops, etc. Wonderful and very helpful staff throughout the building. Greatly enjoyed our brief (one night) stay but would highly recommend to others and plan to come back again.

  • Nice place

    by ZLightPacker19355 on 2019-02-12 05:55 am

I arrived to the hotel at 2:35, told the young lady at the front desk that I would like to check-in and the stone faced looked at me and said "check-in is not until 3:00." Having worked as a Human Resources Director for another Preferred property I just bit my tongue, turned around and had a seat on the sofa adjacent to the front desk. Sensing my unhappiness she began tapping on her keyboard and magickly came up with a room about 15 minutes later. That being said, if you go to a hotel at 2:35 and there isn't a room available, there is a big problem since the hskp staff starts working at 8 a.m. usually. The first floor of the hotel has been completely redone in the modernish style to which most hotels are moving. Nice, just not my taste. Getting into the elevators up to the guest floors and then into the rooms, is another story. While my bathroom was modernized, the elevator and guest room was like a step back in time and had not been updated. My first night I used two glasses which were never replaced for my other nights, thus relegating me to using the plastic cups provided for my red wine. The empty take out containers from that same first night were also left under a coffee table by the housekeeper which was puzzling as well. The second night that I stayed, I woke up and walked down to the starbucks which is about 100 yards down the street and by the time I came back my room was made up although there were toothpaste remnants in the sink and a dirty plastic cup with visible dried red wine was left behind. I'm guessing I was gone 10 minutes. The bed was made though. All in all a good value, good neighborhood, convenient to the metro and I would stay there again.

  • Not A 4-Star Hotel

    by Erin M on 2019-02-12 04:18 am

My experience at the Fairfax was overall disappointing. My room was extremely cold at night due to a huge draft by the window which actually made the curtain sway. I called for a blanket because the room did not have anything extra in the closet, and the person who delivered it was unpleasant. The bathroom floor and cabinet were dirty as if something has splashed all over the floor and onto the cabinet. The room offers nothing you'd expect of a 4-star establishment - no cotton balls, q-tips, nothing. Additionally, the television is ancient - every channel was static. That being said, the location is great and the front-desk staff were friendly and helpful. I will not stay here again.

  • Great Hotel and Delicious Fusion Experience!

by didembinici on 2019-02-10 04:33 pm

Well I hardly recommend a hotel, but...
We spend few nights at The Fairfax at Embassy Row, all staff was very friendly. The front desk and the Director of Rooms even helped us reserve a table at a Jazz Bar!
Our room was big, comfy and clean.
The hotel is in a walking distance to lots of cafes and shops
Cocktails and the dinner we had at The Sally Restaurant was amazing! The chef visited our table twice to make sure if all is good!
I will definitely come back to DC and I now know where I will be staying!
Thank you The Fairfax for the great hosting ?

  • Great place to stay

    by jimsF8211GP on 2019-02-09 10:56 am

We stayed here and enjoyed the large suite
The maid service and front desk staff was most helpful. And although the kitchen did not offer chocolate covered strawberries somehow the head bar staff made it happen and delivered to our room anyway. No tip.... just service to the max
The guys at the revolving door were so helpful and polite.
Our room was large, comfortable and offered great photos of historic places
This is a hidden gem near embassy row and easy walking to many great foods like the Terimusu Italian cafe and the Thai & Pho Bistro
    ??????
