  • Great Gatsby visited here

The inn is quaint and our room was charming. The service is impeccable. It is impossible to open your own door. The golf course is beautiful with many holes right on the water. Breakfast was lovely and is the beach club.

  • What can I say that hasnt been said...

Like others, I hesitate to review for fear that of so much business we cannot book a room. Not only is this "Inn" and surrounding area old Florida, they have managed to maintain this elegant old Florida feel and still keep it updated with quality air conditioning, WiFi, fire suppression system etc, without harming the feel. I applaud those responsible for this rare feet. Along with this the staff is amazingly courteous and friendly AND Genuine.I typically see many large and small things that hotels don't do well and I really cant anything. I tried. We were there at the very beginning of the season and the Inn and town were not crowded at all. I understand that in the peak it can be very crowded and you need reservations most anywhere. We also experienced a very slight red tide at the ocean, it can be very bad. I do hope Florida gets this under control, it can devastate the west cost businesses. My hats off (and I always wear a hoat) to everyone at the Inn.

  • Wonderful Golf Resort

by LawyerJimbo on 2019-10-31 01:25 pm

My wife and I live in Miami and have stayed at all the big-name golf resorts in Florida but had never heard of the Gasparilla Inn. I stumbled on it in an internet search, and it was a convenient diversion on a trip home from Tampa. We stayed three nights and had a great time. The hotel itself is a little over 100 years old, and it has an Old Florida feel with elegance. The entrance is pretty grand, and the interiors and our room are very attractive and comfortable. What was amazing, though, was the food. Dinner was outstanding, including the best Caesar Salad I've ever had. We had dinner two nights and sampled each other's food, and everything was very fresh and delicious. The golf course is very good and fun to play and has several spectacular holes on the water. All of the staff members were very helpful and friendly, especially Cyrus and a young German woman at the front desk. This will probably become a yearly trip for us.

  • A world apart

This reporter does not review the ordinary, the acceptable, the just satisfactory nor for that matter do I review the fairly poor. I reserve my comments for the really good and the bad. I this case I'm happy to be reporting the excellent.

Researching an upcoming trip to Florida, a state we know well, we realized we hadn't visited the gulf coast resort of Boca Grande, which promised to be similar to Sanibel and Captiva, which we had enjoyed some years before. Then, by pure chance we met a couple in England who were on holiday from their home in Boca Grande; they firmly recommended the Gasparilla Inn and we made a reservation.

We loved it. It combines old world charm with more modern facilities and, possibly its greatest asset, excellent service. The staff were, without exception, charming and helpful. Interesting many of the employees are from Jamaica and are very good at what they do.

We ate a couple of times at The Pink Elephant, a restaurant in the same ownership and about a four minute's stroll from the Inn. It too is really good, offering excellent food and wine from a limited, but well balanced menu.

The Inn's Beach Club, a similar distance from the hotel in the opposite direction is also first class. The beach is clean and a few steps away there is a leisure pool and for the more energetic, a separate laps pool. A gym, spa salon and shop complete the Club. Across the road is the Tennis Club.

Combined with a charming little 'downtown' area the Gasparilla Inn and Gasparilla Island afford a really excellent opportunity for a short break. In my view the area rates above similar small Gulf coast resorts and competes favorably with bigger resort areas like Naples and Clearwater. Highly recommended.

  • A Special Place

    by Adventure615920 on 2019-10-17 11:35 am

Although we live in a very nice country club community with good restaurants, two golf courses and 12 tennis courts about an hour north of GI, we consider GI with its old Florida charm to be a special place. This was our fourth visit, and we intend to come again once or twice a year.
The Inn itself has great decor and atmosphere, very nice rooms and grounds, a very good restaurant and bar and attentive staff. In addition to the Inn itself, GI owns the Beach Club with restaurant, Fitness Center, pool and beach, the Pink Elephant restaurant and a Pete Dye waterfront golf course. When we arrive, we park our car and rent from the Inn a four person golf cart as many people do
This year as part of our reservation we chose a sunset cruise and 18 holes of golf.
