  • Top service top location top amenities

    by 904CatherineM on 2020-01-05 02:49 pm

Lexington is a small town. We are so fortunate to have a top notch luxury boutique hotel like the George's in the heart of town. I am a frequent traveler both for work and leisure and I work in the hotel industry. For me, what sets apart one hotel from the next is not just the quality of the room appointments, but primarily the location and most importantly the service. I've been traveling to the George's since my daughter began her school search journey two plus years ago. Any chance I get (and it's tough they sell out nearly every weekend) when visiting I'm at the George's. It's staff like Nancy and Clarke, Georgia and the Taps staff, as well as the location, that keep me coming back. Nancy never fails to greet me by name and assist me to my room to help with bags etc (newer staff please take note). It's these connections that keep me coming back. Keep it up George's & don't go changing! Nancy I'll see you for my check in early Feb! Cat McSwain.

  • Taps Restaurant, well worth the detour

    by 1018JulDen on 2019-12-30 10:51 am

We found Taps restaurant while looking for somewhere different than the normal food stops. Well worthy of the slight 3-4 mile detour from 81. The atmosphere was charming and historic. We loved the option to sit in a living room atmosphere with comfy chairs or to sit in a more traditional table and chairs area. We choose the "dinning room" option and sat at a table for 2. There was so much to see from a long rustic dinning room table, to a see thru fireplace and all the furnishings looked period like.
The meal came quickly and was very very good. Just the thing for something different but not too fancy for lunch.
Betsy, our server was great. Very attentive and shared with us some of the history of the area. She grabbed us a brochure for the Inn and invited us to look around.
The hostess (I didn't get her name) shared with us some of the activities in the area. She even mentioned the New Year's Eve celebration in the area.
We will definitely be back soon for a weekend get away and hopefully one year to be able to attend the New Years Eve celebration!!

  • Home Town Overnight

    by 511tjt on 2019-12-24 08:05 am

We live and work in Lexington, Virginia six blocks from The Georges and frequently lunch at their Taps restaurant, but having no need, we have not stayed at the hotel. On a special offer I purchased a package for two--a night with dinner and breakfast.

Dinner at Haywoods was quite good as was the service and atmosphere. The suite was very well appointed and windowed to the historic Main Street below; it showcased the historical building's adaptive reuse of which many of the contractors/workers are known to us.

Being locally skeptical, the stay gave us a another perspective on what a complete and lovely little city Lexington is--my gratitude was higher than my expectations. Five stars for our stay at The Georges.

  • Special time in historic Lexington

by CathleenTT on 2019-12-24 07:42 am

We recently stayed at the George's to enjoy a little holiday weekend away. The hotel is very special with heated towel racks and a heated bathroom floor. The staff was wonderful. We added dinner at Haywoods across the street, which was spectacular. Enjoy this historic hotel where you look right at the back of Stonewall Jackson's house. It's a little gem of a getaway without having to go too far.

  • Simply the BEST!

    by bjonz012 on 2019-11-20 07:34 am

3rd time staying at this property and it never fails to impress. Top quality everything.
Cannot say enough about TAPS, the on property restaurant! Oysters, tuna...ambiance, bar and wait staff are "simply the BEST!" Now has an attached event space for weddings, meetings, receptions. No other property in Lexington measures up to The Georges.

    Owner Response
Thank you so much, it means so much to us, particularly from a regular visitor to the Georges.
