  • Charming downtown hotel!

    by 28emilyv on 2018-09-19 01:10 pm

We were encouraged by family to stay downtown so we picked the Heathman. Turns out it was an excellent choice! The hotel was conveniently located for all the activities we had planned. It is close to all the public transportation in the city which was very convenient. The hotel itself was charming and lovely, from the elaborately dressed doorman to the library off the lobby. All the staff that we came into contact with were pleasant and helpful. Overall, a wonderful stay in a vibrant city!

  • Nice hotel, great service!

    by Gina W on 2018-09-19 10:17 am

When we stayed at The Heathman Hotel, they were just finishing up a major renovation of the hotel. Some areas of the hotel were still closed but we were able to see it was going to be so nice when they did open the closed areas. It's a beautiful hotel. I look forward to returning and seeing it without scaffolding on the outside. There was some noise during the day but it wasn't bad at all. Our room was very clean and the front desk was very helpful. I loved the location of this hotel. Lots of things near by, shops and restaurants. I would recommend going for a drink at Barlow and then dinner at the Picnic House. They are both right next to the hotel. When I return to Portland, I will be staying here!

  • Ugly Remodel - Poor Management

by crownpacificgroup on 2018-09-18 01:34 pm

This is a beautiful old hotel with wood paneling and a historic history. The remodel is white, cheap and has no character. We asked for early check-in and arrived 1 hour before check in. They said room wouldn't be ready for over an hour. When we finally were in the room it was dirty. Black hairs on bed and in bathroom. Cobwebs from 2 lamps, the blanket was dirty with black streaks on it, there were pretzels under the coffee table and because there is only area rugs you could write your name on the flooring. We told the manager and nothing was done. We texted the manager and told him nothing was done and the day we were leaving he had 3 maids come to our room to clean. Will not go back.

  • Beautiful hotel

    by Holly R on 2018-09-17 04:57 pm

I am so happy that I chose the Heathman Hotel. I was there for 5 days and the room was beautiful. It had a little seated area which was great for eating at. They have a fit kit so I could stretch and excercise in the room. The cleaning service was excellent. Grateful for the person who took care of the room. It was walking distance to a lot of places. A great area to venture from and see Portland.
I'll come for a visit again and rebook with the Heathman Hotel.

    Owner Response
Thank you Holly R for your wonderful review. I'm pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay with us. Ketteline was the housekeeper who took care of your room. I will see to it that she is recognized.

Thank you again for sharing your experience with other travelers.

  • Disappointed at what has been done to this classic hotel

by Sunshinecorgimom on 2018-09-16 01:24 pm

We have stayed at the Heathman for years and always loved it for its elegant, classic interior, superior service, unique art and handsome rooms. When we visited in April, the lobby was under construction, full of workers, dust and noise, only one elevator was operating, we were not offered luggage assistance. For this, we paid ~$300/night. The Warhol endangered species prints are gone. The woodwork in the hallways has been painted stark white; I felt as if I was in a horse barn. Some of the new furniture and artwork in our suite was nice, but there is little place to put ones' things now. No dresser, only a shelf stack in the very dark closet. Each room has a very large tv on the wall, with nothing underneath, just an array of cords, very industrial looking. The bathroom is boring and gray, gray, gray. No hint of luxury. Our room still had the view of the stunning interior wall mural thankfully. We have felt the same way about the remodel of the restaurant and bar. Although I would agree that the restaurant needed updating, the bar area, once all deep-toned wood and marble, is now filled with mid-century modern furniture (yucky 60s colors) and metal, industrial lighting. We will be in Portland again soon and will peek in and see what the final remodel has done to the lobby, but we won't be staying. A pity as it was always our favorite place to stay especially when attending a concert at the adjacent Schnitz.
