Opened in 1910, The Hermitage Hotel was Nashville’s first million-dollar hotel. Billed as “fireproof, noise proof, and dustproof,” the hotel served as the headquarters for the suffragette movement in 1920, when Tennessee cast the deciding ballot giving women the right to vote. Reopened after a $19 million renovation in 2003, this wonderful historic hotel showcases restored architectural details, and classically traditional décor, and is outfitted with 21st-century amenities. Its grand foyer ushers guests into one of the most stunningly beautiful lobbies in America, with its gorgeous stained-glass ceiling. Over the years, famous visitors have included famous country musicians, renowned Hollywood superstars, and even a few U.S. Presidents. Due to its amazing institutional history, the U.S. Department of the Interior designated The Hermitage Hotel as a National Historic Landmark.
