  • Wonderful Getaway

My husband and I stayed during an anniversary getaway. Looked the historic and history to this place. It is beautiful and staff so friendly. We stayed in the Colonel, a deluxe King room. We looked the private little porch with 2 rockers and enjoyed part of the afternoon here. The room was very clean with a kitchenette, sitting area, fireplace and bed on the opposite side. The bathroom was beautiful with a soaking tub and separate walk in shower. Our one call to room service for ice for answered within minutes. Location is close to so many places.

  • Relaxing

The Inn at Montchanin Village is historic. We spent Mother's Day weekend getting pampered at the spa and spending the night in a two story townhouse. The spa was wonderful. The changing area is small and not so private but it was all females so we just had a good time. We had wine and snacks. We stayed in The Morgan, a two bedroom, two bath .townhouse. It was very comfortable. Decorated nicely. Huge bedrooms each with a large bathroom. Great for two couples or parents with teenagers. Turndown service was a nice touch. Highly recommend staying here for a relaxing treat. Krazy Kats is the restaurant on the premises. We couldn't get reservations that weekend so not sure about that. Parking for our unit was right in front of our door.

  • gram's room at the old age home

    by MeraKi25 on 2018-03-06 04:46 am

The review is titled as such because this is exactly what this reminded me of- a grandmother's room at an assisted living facility. Don't get me wrong, the concept is lovely. The set up of the homes along the cobblestone path is quaint and serene. However, this is defined as a "luxury boutique hotel." Luxury to me does not mean decor from a 1980s motel in the western US. The Aztec chairs match the same print on the bedskirt and window boxes. The coverlet was tattered. Worst of all was that my room was 80F when I entered it. The HVAC system was turned to "off," and the room did not get below 76 all evening. As a single female traveler, opening windows to sleep is just not an option. I left a note for cleaning staff to set it to 68 the following morning, and then that evening, it got down into the mid 50s in the room. There are no options to deny cleaning services or turn down service. Towels are replaced daily, which creates a lot of unnecessary waste. Cabinets in the bathroom are locked, and counter space is taken up by all the glassware (also unnecessary), toiletries, giant tissue box and hairdryer. A shelf would do wonders for all of that stuff. Staff is very nice. Lobby is well appointed and the honor bar is a nice idea, although we did not partake. This place could be a destination spot with some renovations. Right now, I'm just disappointed.

  • I just love this place.

My wife and I have visited this place from time to time, over the years, as it holds a special place in our hearts. Our stays have always been enjoyable, and this time was no different.

We usually stay in the Henry room, but since it was taken, we were given the Colonel. The room was spotless. Not a speck of dust or dirt anywhere. The decor was pleasing and the bed was so comfortable.

The bathtub is large and easily fits two. It has a towel warmer which my wife would love at our home.

The service from booking, to checking in and to checking out was great. Krazy Kat's restaurant is located on the grounds which offers fantastic food for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

We enjoyed the Colonel room, but Henry is still my favorite. We will try another style room in the future so we can compare it against the Henry.

The Inn also has a gym and a wonderful spa area which offers many different services. It is worth checking out.

This is a great place for couples to get away. I will be back!

  • Unusual.

Looking for something different? This is your place! Rather than a high rise with lots of glass, mirrors, and thick carpeting, Montchanin is a group of converted small homes - each with two or more "suites". Room furnishings are - in some instances - "shabby chic" - used furniture apparently used in an attempt to complement the age and appearance of the houses. The public rooms in the main building were large and very comfortable - decorated in what I would describe as "Safari" style. Staff service was very good. We used the Spa service and the excellent restaurant and were well pleased with both.
