  • Well decorated luxurious rooms

    by David G on 2018-08-29 07:22 am

Well decorated rooms reminded me of a boutique hotel even though quite large. Quieter part of town but restaurants nearby are quite expensive. The hotel is well appointed and breakfast good, was good value for money and staff were very personable.

  • Classic Elegance

    by MaryM10159 on 2018-06-13 06:54 pm

As a resident of Houston, this is our favorite "stay-cation" hotel. My husband requested a night here last August for his birthday, along with a play at the Alley Theater - which is just across the street. So glad we came before Harvey interrupted our city. The hotel is under renovation now and we are looking forward to the new, improved restaurant which is to have street-side/patio dining. The service and rooms were already wonderful; we can't wait for the return!

  • Waiting for this hotel's return

    by Robert L on 2018-02-13 03:30 pm

As a native Houstonian I have only stayed at the hotel a few times for special events in the theater district, but I have enjoyed he Lancaster Grill and Bar countless times. We have always had great service, food, and drink. It is a long-standing meeting place in the theater district, and I look forward to it's return.

  • Weekend getway with class!

    by Brian W on 2017-12-24 11:29 am

I stayed here with my girlfriend, due to its location to another event in the area. Immediately upon my arrival I was greeted with friendly valet staff, complimentary champagne, and a pleasant check-in. I have stayed at a few 5 star hotels, and several motels through my travels, and I must say this is the only one that I've actually referred to a friend. The room was very elegant and modern considering the hotels age. I felt formal, yet knew I wasn't breaking the bank staying here. If you're looking for a weekend in downtown Houston, or going to a production/event nearby I highly recommend giving this hotel consideration.

  • Great attention to detail, good value

by Janlda on 2017-12-16 06:30 pm

August 2017: Our second time staying there. In town for a "Summer Chills" play at The Alley. An even-better experience than our first stay. Were in a lovely, elegant suite with a great view. Adelina, the person who was at the front desk when we arrived (and who had helped with our reservation), was very personable. Being offered fresh bakery cookies at check-in was a nice touch too. The complimentary gourmet continental breakfast was unique, tasty, and filling. Love the historical feel to the hotel - and all the attention to detail. Reasonably priced, too, for the quality and location, especially on most weekends; so convenient for the entertainment district. Extra charge for parking (which is valet and offsite), but that's pretty normal for downtown, where space is at a premium. Would like to try the restaurant (grill) for a pre-theater dinner sometime. Noticed, though, that the prices seemed to go up quite a bit since the year before.

Sad to learn that The Lancaster was affected by Harvey-related flooding. Am sure they'll be back before v. long, though.

    Owner Response
Thank you for your comments and feedback. Yes, we suffered damage due to hurricane Harvey and we are currently in the rebuilding process and plan to open in the summer of 2018. It was a pleasure to host you!
