  • Beautiful and historic place to stay

by midduk on 2019-08-11 08:47 pm

This is an amazing unique hotel. Small and friendly with relaxed atmosphere. We had a room with 2 doubles and lake view. It was a large room with excellent facilities ( there are no TVs in rooms due to condition set by previous owner when lodge was given to the State). The hotel keeps it 1930's feel but with modern conveniences. The food is excellent. Local dishes very well made and very good value for money. Location is right at the head of the spring in the State Park, excellent for hiking, swimming (though spring water is cold!) nature and wildlife - especially birds. Loved it and would love to go back.

Thank you for taking a moment to review your stay at our historic Lodge. It's true we definitely do have a 1930's feel.

I hope you found a moment to take our boat tour, if not definitely make it a priority if you return. We're very glad that you enjoyed your time here, and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to The Lodge at Wakulla Springs in the future.

Very nice place. Retro style. Enjoyable shower with clean tap water. Multiple windows can be open for fresh air. Quiet central air conditioning. No breakfast included. Nearby small beach with cold clean water for swimming.

Thank you for taking a moment out of your day to review our historic Lodge, we appreciate your feedback.

Our Springs are quite refreshing, especially during these summer months, and are always a pleasant swim. I hope you also had a chance to enjoy our 'Jungle Cruise", it is definitely a favorite activity. Just so you're aware we do offer a Bed & Breakfast package for those who would like to have breakfast included with their room.

We hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you back to The Lodge at Wakulla Springs in the future.

  • If you want to step back in time and experience Old Florida, this is the place to do it.

Wakulla Springs is off the beaten path, but well worth leaving the Interstates and sameness of hotels to experience not only the Springs, but the Lodge itself. The Lodge at Wakulla Springs is much as it was when it was built in the 1930s. As soon as you enter the front door, one can almost imagine being an invited guest of Edward Ball back in the day when he built The Lodge as a guest house. The experience is heightened when you get on the oldest working elevator in the State of Florida which takes you to the second floor where the guest rooms are located. The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful from making a reservation, to checking in, answering any questions about the hiking trails and boat ride, to checking out. It was impressive to have housekeeping staff stop to ask if everything was OK and to let them know if anything else was needed. The room, in my case a single queen bed (with a new mattress), was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was nice and had the usual amenities of soaps, shampoo and lotion. There were no expectations for me on the restaurant one way or the other, but was I extremely pleased at the selection of menu items, the excellent quality of the food and the very reasonable prices. The Lodge at Wakulla is for everyone--romantic couples, families, friends traveling together, or solo travelers. I recommend stepping back in time to enjoy the way Florida once was at Wakulla Springs Lodge.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to review your stay at our historic Lodge. We are very glad you enjoyed your time here. We have just replaced all of the mattresses in The Lodge, and I'm glad you were able to enjoy the new queen in your room.

I will be sure to pass your comments along to our housekeepers, they work very hard to keep The Lodge in good condition, and will appreciate your commendation.

We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back to The Lodge at Wakulla Springs in the future.

  • Beautiful location, but disappointing visit

by alikatjones on 2019-07-26 07:46 am

We had heard that the lodge was romantic and had wonderful food so we decided to go spend the night there. We arrived in time for lunch so we headed to the dining room first. The hostess was charming and gave us a great window table overlooking the spring. The waitress was slower than slow but we weren't in a hurry so we could overlook that. My husband ordered a salad and I had the Turkey Avocado BLT. The avocado and tomatoes were both mushy. Waffle fries were good, as were the breadsticks. His salad was just okay. We also ordered martinis ($10 each) that were definitely not top shelf. I wouldn't recommend them if you go there. After waiting for 15 minutes after we finished our lunch, the waitress finally brought our check, but hadn't included the drinks. We waited for her to come back to tell her about the mistake, and then another long wait for the new bill. It was no big deal but there were only about 5 tables occupied and 3 servers so it was perplexing that it took so long. We finally got our bill squared away and went to check in. The desk clerk made us feel like we were a bother and was so uninterested in helping us that we decided to leave. That's the first time we've ever done something like that, and maybe it was because of our disappointment with lunch, but you expect quaint places like that to treat you like a special guest and it didn't happen. I don't usually leave negative reviews but this was a letdown. We did take the boat tour afterwards and it was really nice. The rangers were great.

  • Excellent Lodge

    by NaplesBeachBums2014 on 2019-07-06 05:09 pm

We stayed one night at the Lodge after a day at the Springs. The Lodge is beautiful and peaceful and well worth the cost. The only downside as mentioned by other reviews is the bedding which is old and too soft, it felt like the box springs were the old metal coil type. For the cost of the room and the small amount of beds, they should be replaced.
That being said, everything else was great.
No tv so we played cards in the lobby and walked in the evening, my 14 yr old son enjoyed being unplugged and my wife loved the history and romance of the Lodge.
We had a great dinner, our server(Payton) was excellent as was the breakfast staff and the ladies at the front desk.
My wife loved the Lodge and is ready to go back. It's definitely worth your time to visit to see a piece of old Florida history.
