  • Wonderful and Relaxing ANniversary Trip

    by Rosalyn K on 2019-03-19 08:23 am

We really enjoyed our relaxing visit to Wakulla Springs Lodge and State Park. We went on the "jungle cruise" boat ride and saw a lot of birds, some manatees and a couple alligators. The food in the restaurant was delicious and well prepared.

  • Road trip highlight

I was in constant awe. You'll think you're a game piece in CLUE in this historic building! The landscaping, plants, and scenery were blowing my mind. The boat rides through the Park service were $8 and well worth it--just as good as any African safari.

  • A Most Wonderful Step Back Into Time to the Real Florida

    by William P on 2019-03-18 12:33 am

Okay, I'm biased towards my home state of Florida, especially anything related to its cool history and fresh water springs. Well, Wakulla Springs State Park and Lodge is a double-whammy of goodness. First you have a classic large Florida spring and river -- Wakulla. And if some of it looks familiar, you might well have seen it in a film or two from Creature from the Black Lagoon to Tarzan to Airport 77. You can admire the spring and river from the lodge or while swimming in it or from a boat cruise, which departs about a minute's walk from the lodge.
As much as people love our amusement parks down south, this is the real Florida and it's real fun. Spending a night or two in the historic 1935 lodge, complete with a great dinning room and full rustic ambiance is a definite win-win for me. The hotel staff will even play the Creature from the Black Lagoon movie on the lobby's television upon request. (There's no TVs or phones in your room but with today's mobile phone and free wi-fi, who needs it?)
This is definitely a cool step-back-into-time type place made even more special with Wakulla Spring there and its history. (And again, also some Hollywood history too.) There's also a still-working art deco elevator and soda fountain section of the lodge. In my opinion, a very good place to spend a couple of nights either with your spouse and/or family. We really enjoyed it and look forward to going back.

  • Superior Experience!

I recommend Wakulla Lodge to friends and relatives for business or retreats or just a get-a-way from the stress of our everyday lives. In the past I have scheduled business (Family Literacy program" meetings here and found a supportive staff to assist me. I usually meet friends here about twice a year.

  • Living History

    by Seaside56705865430 on 2019-03-18 07:34 am

A historic property that still provides a wonderful experience today--the Lodge is from an era when freshwater springs were one of the top attractions in Florida. Great food at the restaurant: an authentic taste of North Florida cooking. Today people come to Florida for beachfront condos and theme parks--which are not necessarily bad things--but they miss what was special about Florida before air conditioning and other types of infrastructure were widespread. This property is living history--not something wrapped up for museum archives. All kinds of wild life, including alligators, manatees, bald eagles, anhinga, etc.
