  • Great place to stay near Luray Caverns

We stayed one night at The Mimslyn Inn and it is a beautiful place. The Speakeasy was a great restaurant in the hotel for our family of 4 including 2 kids- ages 11 and 13. We enjoyed the saltwater pool and the hot tub while looking at the stars. Older hotel with lots of character! Great stay overall.

We stayed one night in Stony Man Cottage at the back of the property, It was very quiet and comfortable. Cottages have a private pool, unfortunately Thunderstorm came through, so never had a chance to try.
Inn was impressive in visuals, breakfast was buffet style and extra on top of room rate.
Everything about our stay was comfortable.

  • Cute and Cozy Cottage

We were traveling as two adults and a toddler, We stayed in the Lewis Mountain Cottage for two nights. Our stay was great and we would definitely return.

The cottages are a short distance from the actual Inn. Our cottage appeared to be newly built, with a great front porch and full of modern amenities. There was a kitchen with a full size fridge and a stove. The bathroom was nice, with a jetted tub and an ample hot water supply (much appreciated after a day of hiking Shenandoah). We were able to park right in front of our cottage, which made unpacking easy and convenient.

There is a pool near the cottages, and also another one at the Inn. In addition, there was a small shed near the pool that contained games. There was also a hammock and areas to sit outside. The grounds of the Inn are beautiful and it is easy to see why people have their weddings and events here. The inside of the Inn was quite elegant, and made us glad that we chose the cottages for our stay with our (loud and energetic) toddler.

However, there were a few things that we didn't love: our bed was not level, and sleeping on a slant was uncomfortable and unsettling. Our door had only a standard lock in the doorknob (keypad with code), and no deadlock. This was a little strange for us, since all the hotels we stay in have some kind of deadlock. Our room's hair dryer was missing and so we called the front desk to ask for a replacement. We tipped the person who brought it to us, and he showed his displeasure with the amount, which was pretty rude.

Overall, we loved our stay here and would return.

  • Struggling with a 3

Kidnapped some friends, convincing them to travel to this lovely gem I had discovered same time last year. It's not the place- still a pleasing atmosphere- that was a disappointment, but it's the people. I have already discussed the presumptuous and dismissive attitude of some of the staff members with Angela, who called me after I responded to a "How was your stay" email from Steve Hands. He did not bother to respond, but had Angela the desk manager, call me.
In my excitement to return, I told the desk clerk I can't wait to have dinner on the porch again with my friends; the response was, "You can have dinner on the porch only if a server is available." That doesn't even make sense. My 2 friends, independent of my observations, spoke the same about employees and lack of genuine kindness. I had also called 2 times prior to our arrival to ask if they could move a small refrigerator into the room. No problem. Even as we checked in at the desk, I was assured the fridge was taken care of. We called the office after thoroughly checking both rooms for this fridge. The fact that we couldn't find it, and yet it was there, was the running joke for the remainder of our stay. It was "big enough" to fit 2 bottled waters in, sitting on the desk. Thanks to Aaron, who helped us when he saw us struggling with our luggage at the entrance and appeared with an actual mini fridge, and thanks to the cheerful personality of Beth, we were content. Again, attractive place. But it's the people that make your stay exceptional. Thank you, Aaron and Beth.
