  • Gorgeous property

    by Stephanie A on 2019-02-07 04:35 pm

Impeccable service and room was quiet and cozy. I love the attached dining options..Brooklyn DIner is a hidden gem. Super Hi-def TV and jetted tub were nice touches. For the price the value exceeds that of other luxury downtown hotels. We will be back.

  • Convenient Location, Sketchy Parking

    by Gizmo_rex on 2019-02-06 10:58 am

We really enjoyed our stay. Staff were exceptional and responsive.

    A few observations
    - Needs a towel rack or a towel ring next to the shower. Hang your towel on the rod at the end of the shower
    - More information about parking options when the lot behind the hotel is full.
    - Four towels instead of two for a couple. Towels used at night are still damp in the morning and we don't require room service daily. We asked for a couple more towels and they were promptly provided ?
    - a recycling bin in the room, if Spokane recycles?

Noise is an issue in this hotel. Not their fault. It's an old, but lovely, building and nicely decorated. Sounds travel through the walls as well as generate up from the middle lounge on the 2nd floor, as do the sounds of trains passing through regularly. If you are a light sleeper, they will provide ear plugs. The beds are soft if this is a concern for you.

    Gizmo_Rex,

Thank you for taking the time to give us this informative review! We very much appreciate your feedback, and I will share it with the hotel staff right away.
During your next stay, please ask the front desk for a little parking map and directions to our overflow lot, we are always here and happy to help! We are currently looking into adding recycling bins into our rooms, however, we do have one at the coffee bar for your convenience, or you can definitely bring any recycling to the front desk and we will dispose of it properly.

We thank you for your feedback, and we all look forward to seeing you during your next trip to Spokane!

  • Locals who love The Montvale

    by prov3110 on 2019-02-03 03:48 pm

Once in a while, its just fun to have a date night in your own hometown. We've stayed at all the Davenport options and enjoyed them, but The Montvale wins as our favorite top spot. So I owe them a review after staying there again! We love the historic hotel, with its boutique feel and beautifully done interior. The open atrium and glass rooftop lets in wonderful light even on a "meh" cloudy winter day. The big wide staircases and antiques and artwork throughout add charm and we've noticed guests enjoy the common areas to relax and chat. Sometimes the Davenport can feel a bit overwhelming with the crowds and constant buzz of so many people and activities in the lobby, but the Montvale is relaxed, quiet and private feeling. Rates are very reasonable. Staff has always been wonderful. Rooms are inviting with tall windows that add a lot of fun character (corner rooms especially), very comfortable beds, roomy bathrooms, mini fridge and microwave, etc. Convenience is fantastic right across from the Fox if you are going to a show. (skip the lines for the restroom and run across to your room!) There are 3 restaurants on the first floor or within a 1-2 block walking distance to make deciding which to choose a fun challenge. Some misc. things to note: parking is an additional $10, but convenient. Pull into the guest load zone on 1st ave and when you check in the staff will give you a parking permit and instructions where the lot is behind the building. Although no hot breakfast offered on site, a coupon is given for a breakfast location just 1 block away. Yes there is an nice elevator or a beautiful staircase to get to your room. If you can splurge a little (or catch a great low demand period), the presidential suite or the queen parlor suite have extra space and are fun. And I always recommend the top floor in any hotel, if available, whether here or at a Best Western - it is simply quieter to not have neighbors above you. Love this place and will be back for another night out when we have a show at the Fox.

  • Beautiful, clean, friendly!

by Eastport on 2019-02-02 09:43 am

This hotel is a great bargain and really nice place to stay. Superb staff in Brooklyn Deli in hotel. Good food and drinks, reasonable prices. The room is well appointed, comfy bed, spotless and nicely upgraded. Coffee and tea are complimentary in second floor lobby. We will definitely stay here again. Weve also stayed at the Ruby but like this one better. Nor sure why the drink coupons can't be used in this hotel but only at The Sapphire at the Ruby?? Quick Uberride for about 8 bucks, to the Arena. No complaints! We'll be back!

    by Teresa B on 2019-01-22 07:00 am

Great Historical Hotel in Spokane, Wa. Location is close to The Davenport Hotel,Knitting Factory and Spaghetti Factory. A must visit to their restaurant downstairs called The Qilded Unicorn.
    Will stay there again.
