By 1918, he constructed a beautiful manor in the center of Yogyakarta. The building is an example of Indonesian-Dutch architecture. After the Great Depression, the manor sat dormant until another businessman transformed it into a luxurious boutique hotel. Following World War II, the hotel began to develop a prestigious reputation for its legendary hospitality.
