    I really wanted to give 5 stars. First off, if you are looking to see and be seen, this is NOT the place. Go to the Royalton, James or ACE hotels, which are all within 2 blocks. For us, this less busy scene is better. Also, all the other 3 hotels quoted were generally more expensive. To us, a low price was key.

    We knew the rooms were small-- and the website made it clear. The room was functional and tastefully decorated.



    1. Economical. For a 4-star quality hotel, the pricing was doable

    2. Very clean room

    3. Functional room with attractive decor

    4. The onsite cafe was very handy fir an early morning grab and go. The cafe staff were lovely!


    1. Wake up call never happened! And no alarm in the room. This is pretty bad. What if my phone battery had drained or electricity failed?? Who would've been responsible for my missed appointment?

    2. The hallway carpet bubbled up as I suppose glue became loose -- maybe due to the excessive heating?

    3. This is the worst - the front desk person, Nomi (I think), should not be working as the first person a guest interacts with. She checked us in without a smile. As I saw that the hotel had plenty of inventory left, I asked for an upgrade. To which she responded that they are selling? Really, at 5 pm the night of? Really, selling everything? It wasn't a gracious tone with which she responded to us; it was a " how dare you even inquire" attitude.

    No explanation as to where to get the coffee service (as I saw another front desk person do for his guest).

    4. Oh before I arrived at the property I called up about the bed and breakfast package, and whether there was room service. The rep said no, hotel doesn't offer room service, and he said the B & B was dubious. Then I searched the website a bit more, and it mentioned room service in a few places... not sure what was happening.

    Also after I reserved, no confirmation came through. I called, and they supposedly sent again. Said it was a glitch. Well, didn't get my confirmation till the next day which was an overhang and annoying.

    Would I stay here again? Yes if the price is right. Hope the hotel works out it's front desk and other issues.

  • Love This Hotel!

    Let me start with the location - it's superb - far enough away from the chaos of midtown but still easy walking distance to all. The front desk staff were all professional and very helpful. I want to especially thank Sam, Almira, and Steve for advice on breakfast and help with my bill (a little mishap on my part) that Sam fixed. Would also love to acknowledge the two people who checked is in, but I didn't get their names.

    The rooms are very comfortable and I loved the unique decor. The two double bed rooms we had (both times we stayed) were spacious especially for NY standards. Bathrooms were modern and large with terrific water pressure. One of the rooms had a handheld shower head, which my European husband appreciated.

    There's a great coffee and pastry shop (Marchio), a restaurant and a terrific place for cocktails (Vini e Fritti).

    Finally, the hotel never feels overrun with tourists which makes it more relaxing.

  • Beautiful!

    Stayed her for a long "Girls" weekend with my SIL. Lobby, lounge and common areas were lovely! 3 restaurants in the building. Lower East Side location, between Madison and Park Avenues. Many attractions were walking distance! And they held our luggage on checkout as our flight didn't leave till that evening.

  • Nice city hotel

    You are not far from city centre- Times Square (with Underground train it takes 20 minutes). Hotel lobby was very nice and spacious- ideal for afternoon tea or coffee. But rooms were smaller than expect and we had prepaid opne of the bigger.

  • Great Stay for a Quick Trip

    My friend booked this hotel for a 2-night stay last summer. It's further than you think from things in Midtown, but the price was great and we still managed around on foot quite a bit. There's several places to eat/drink right around the hotel. Pretty cool aesthetic inside. Rooms were pretty nice. About as big as other hotels in NYC, but we managed as two adults no problem. Depending on the locations of the attractions you plan on seeing, I'd recommend this hotel to others. If you are looking to just go around the Times Square area, you're in for a bit of a hike.
