  • Really nice atmosphere for your costly stay

    by 19gaila on 2019-08-19 02:07 am

My husband and I went on our 35th wedding anniversary. The grounds are lovely. They had two weddings on this past weekend. The rooms are nice, but a little older in the hotel. We had a room with a parking lot view that was $400 per night (on a weekend). Midweek or off season stays might be more reasonable. I would love to return sometime because it is a lovely hotel experience. I believe that they offer overnight spa packages that might be worth looking into.

  • The Day of Bliss

Grounds are impeccable. Our room which was in the hotel was clean and spacious. My sons wedding reception was held here. Ariana H was a joy to work with on the reception and rehearsal dinner. The food for both the wedding and rehearsal was AMAZING. Everything was perfect. Highly suggested as a vacation, wedding venue, rehearsal dinner venue or weekend getaway. Oh yes Brunch, though pricey, it is one of the best I have ever been to.

  • Beautiful hotel, grounds and location...but pricey!

    by James A on 2019-08-12 03:55 am

You cannot beat this location, the beautiful grounds, the bars and outside party space, the pools, shore etc. The hotel is very nice as well. But, staying one Saturday night in August cost $560, and we did NOT have an ocean view room at all. Rather, we were in the main inn overlooking the front parking lot. The room was very nice, bed was very comfortable, but $560?? No free breakfast, old-fashioned coffee maker in room (no Keurig??), small bathroom without an exhaust fan. Staff was friendly and helpful, again it is a beautiful place and we enjoyed the stay...but simply could not afford more than one night. And expect it to be busy, noisy and crowded on summer weekend ds!

We are glad that you enjoyed your visit to the resort and our beautiful grounds while staying with us. The prices for our rooms are less expensive during the week and there is more space at our beach, pools, and restaurants for our guests to enjoy themselves. We hope you visit again soon.

  • Great family vacation, good service

    by pamelacc75 on 2019-08-11 03:27 pm

Our family has been vacationing at Waters Edge for close to two decades. It's had some ups and downs, but we've noticed a marked improvement during our past two visits, most notably with the customer service.

When we became a family of 4, we preferred to stay in a one bedroom suite in the Library Building. Our room always had a king bed, living area with sleeper sofa, kitchenette, and balcony. While it did not offer water views, it was usually quiet and pleasant to sit on the balcony in the evening. Upon check-in this year, however, the suite did not have a balcony, the shades did little to block out light, and it sounded like elephants were walking above us. Just when we thought we were in for a disappointing vacation, management remedied it by moving us to what they said was a timeshare. The room was closer to the beach, with a king bedroom, living room, kitchen and dining area, and loft with two twin beds for the kids. The complimentary upgrade (during a very busy week) really made us feel like we were valued as return guests.

The only real complaint we had was the noisy doors in the timeshare buildings. When the outer door opens, it creates suction that makes the interior doors bang, which woke us up. It could probably be remedied by installing a slow close hinge on the outer door or heavier interior doors. I also don't recommend going barefoot on the room deck, where I got a sliver.

Service was excellent! Everyone was so pleasant: the two young gentleman who helped us move our luggage in and out of the room; the friendly kids working at the beach, setting up chairs and umbrellas; the waitresses at Julia's and Sunset. Paula and Frank at the inside bar are always happy to help the kids pick out evening desserts at the coffee shop across from the gift shop. Kassandra at the front desk was especially pleasant during checkout. And I wish I had gotten the name of the woman working in the gift shop who helped me with a band aide and ointment when I got a huge sliver in my foot. We didn't use housekeeping services during our stay, but the staff was friendly and polite when we saw them.

The food is pretty good, too. Definitely high resort prices, but it's vacation so we expect it. When you have a kitchen in the room, you can save a bit of money by making breakfast and lunch. Quesadillas at Sunset are my favorite. My son loves the hot dogs at Julia's. The frozen drinks are yummy. There's nothing better than a mudslide delivered poolside! My kids swear that the Shirley Temples Frank makes are the best ever.

Nightlife is fun, with live music Weds - Sunday, karaoke on Tuesday, and trivia on Monday. The entertainment ends at a reasonable hour so it isn't too noisy for sleeping kids.

Overall, we had a great time and definitely plan to return next summer. We will spend the extra money to stay in a timeshare and are considering investing in one going forward.
