  • Expensive for an average room

by conradusa on 2019-12-11 11:25 am

Granted, I was there in December, but the facility and the rooms are nice, but fairly worn. The staff was nice. The food was average. I didn't have a view from my room, but the view from the dining area was nice. The parking accommodations are confusing at best. There's one older bar with limited seating and a tiny dance floor. The gym was in horrible shape. Equipment was old and had rust. The ceiling was leaking and I entered after a rain with a bucket next to the equipment. For a resort and SPA you should expect more and you certainly should expect clean. Again, the staff was professional and polite.

  • Mother/Daughter Retreat

This was a lovely hotel and the staff was very kind. We were with a large group of woman for a conference and I believe the staff was very accomadating.
Our room was comfortable however we did have to call for service since when we returned to our room after 4pm and it still had not been tended to. The atmoshere in both the Birstro and the main dining room were lovely. The wait staff in the restaurant (Mario) was a joy. The Bistro food was very good but the length of time to get our food was a bit dissapointing. We waited 1 hour for our lunch and we were late getting back to our conference. The Spa was Lovely! All of the services we received were excellent. We will be back again for another stay!

  • Enjoyable Stay

by Ptyear on 2019-12-07 06:55 am

It was interesting to read a review just before this review. We had a pleasant week stay and found the staff courteous and most enjoyable. The accommodations and food is excellent. As for the huge Christmas tree, it is located next the main road so to limit who could attend the tree lighting would be near to impossible. Overall would definitely go back to this Resort.

  • Replace the staff!!!

    by V8038SImichellem on 2019-12-01 07:33 am

We just got back from a 1 night getaway to Water's Edge. We traveled with a large group of people and stayed there because it was close to the North Pole Express train ride. The proximity was great but I have never felt so unwelcome at a hotel (or anywhere else!!!!) The staff was so rude and continuously yelled at our children. They could seriously do nothing right. On the night of our stay, they had a tree lighting event. This event was open to the public which made it very crowded for the hotel guests. It would have been a ton better if the hotel guests got any extra hour at the event before it was open to everyone else.... we were paying to stay at the hotel and were treated the same way as someone right off the streets. The pool is a good size and there is a hot tub- they enforce the rule that only 16+ can use the hot tub. At the end our our stay, the manager couldn't be more apologetic and gave us a few comps for our trouble. It was a terrible feeling to not be welcomed somewhere and I'm hoping they could improve their staff to make it more enjoyable for the guests! This hotel claims to be family friendly but the bottom line is they don't enjoy having the kids there. I may go back once more to give it a try- probably just a quick girls night. My kids asked me to promise that they never have to go back ?

  • Sisters Trip

    by David P on 2019-11-17 03:35 am

Waters Edge is an absolutely beautiful resort. Great location, great grounds, restaurants, staff, there isn't a negative about this resort. Connecticut is a beautiful state and we enjoyed the surrounding towns and various places of interest. Visited a nearby casino one evening and had a great meal at Hash A Go Go and came home with enough money to pay for our next sisters trip!!! It's all good!
