  • stay was fine but again the food was very bad, cold and service very slow

    by Dream32322829253 on 2019-03-17 03:34 am

was not happy with the food and thought that the tavern was the worst
    Would not go back again
staff was great and room was good but that was it
wanted to use the spa and that was a disappointment , do not understand why when you said it was open until 7

    Owner Response
Thank you for staying with us in Woodstock recently and sharing your very first review of the experience.

In was very sorry to learn that the service and menu in Richardson's Tavern weren't up to expectations and that affected your visit to the point where you wouldn't return. I wish we'd been aware of your dissatisfaction at the time so we could have done something about it, and your observations tell us quite clearly we need to do better.

I hope you understand your disappointment was an exception rather than the rule and thank you for pointing out the opportunity for us to get better. I'd hope you'll consider another visit to our resort when you're in the area again and look forward to making a more favorable impression.

    Very truly yours,

  • Quick Weekend Away

    by Chris M on 2019-03-16 07:31 am

We were looking for a quick weekend away in early March. The holidays were behind us and Spring was around the corner. We looked at a number of spots and decided on the Woodstock Inn & Resort. It was reasonably close to our CT home, allowing us to make plans for a Friday and Saturday night stay.

After working about half a day on Friday we drove up to Woodstock on Friday afternoon, arriving around 4:00pm. The check-in was easy from the valet parking, to the check-in desk, to the staff who assisted with our luggage. We decided to stay in Friday night and ate at the Tavern within the inn after having a cocktail in the bar, The menu was good and the food was excellently prepared.

On Saturday morning we made our way to the Nordic Center for a day on snowshoeing, of course after a a good breakfast at the Inn. The snowshoe trails were well marked and groomed, and we made our way to the summit of Mt. Peg. After our trip back down we made our way to the spa.

The spa is amazing. Separate male and female locker rooms with all of the amenities you could ask for...a steam room, hot tub/whirlpool, and a cedar sauna too. We both opted for individual massages instead of a couples massage, and I think we both walked away saying "wow"! Saturday night we decided on dinner in town. That proved to be a good choice too.

In the end, the best comment came from my wife who basically said "Whatever you're even thinking of...they have it and it's perfect". I think we're going to be looking at the Woodstock Inn for many weekend get-away's in the future.

    Owner Response
Thanks for choosing Woodstock and The Woodstock Inn & Resort for your weekend getaway and sharing your very fond reminiscences. And congratulations on your snowshoe conquest of Mount Peg!

We like to think we have something for everyone, and I'm thrilled to hear you and your wife enjoyed such a great sample... now you'll have to plan to return in the spring (coming on very quickly!) or summer when a whole new slate of intriguing amenities and activities await!

Falconry and fly-fishing are about to take off, and before you know it our Woodstock Country Club will be open with the course in terrific condition, and our organic Kelly Way Gardens will be taking center stage in our culinary efforts!

Please do give our reservations team a call right away so we can start planning the perfect weekend- or maybe a little longer- getaway just for you!

    Best wishes,

  • Classic New England hospitality!

    by JMS1227 on 2019-03-12 05:59 am

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves for a two night getaway to Woodstock, VT. The roaring fire in the lobby, delicious food, extra helpful and friendly staff in particular... Patti and Bill were outstanding...all added to the ambiance of a quaint town surrounded by natural beauty. Snowshoeing up Mt Tom was fun. Can't wait to visit again and stay at the Inn.

    Owner Response

Our team works hard to make every guest feel welcome and appreciated at every opportunity, and we are always grateful to see their wonderful work recognized. We've shared your kind words with our entire team and celebrated just a little, and both Patti and Bill are appreciative of the recognition!

We all look forward to welcoming you "home" to Woodstock and The Inn again soon, and hope you can make it during the spring (just beginning to show itself this weekend!) or summer when we have a whole bounty of great activities and amenities coming up!

    Thanks again!

Beautiful classic inn that is well maintained and staffed. Fire and ice special is a great value. So many things to see and do nearby. Don't miss the huge fireplace where you can chat with other guests, if you wish. Easy walk to the village and all its cute shops.
