Inside the historic Wort Hotel in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, the Silver Dollar Bar boasts 67 years of outlaw history and 2,032 uncirculated Morgan Silver Dollars from the Denver mint inlaid into its famous, serpentine bar. First opened in 1950, the Silver Dollar Bar was a hotspot for drinking, socializing, and even gambling (illegal but tolerated by Wyoming authorities until the 1960s, when the Wort was forced to shut their operation down) among everyone from local cowboys to prominent politicians across the U.S.

After a fire severely damaged the hotel in 1980, Jackson Hole’s community pulled together to restore the Wort in just one year. The bar, damaged but not destroyed, was famously carried to a nearby bank vault by local high school students while the hotel underwent a complete restoration. The bar returned to its home and has been left untouched since 1981, and Jackson Hole commemorates the reopening of the hotel every June with the outdoor Old West Days dance celebration.

Everything from its collection of Ray McCarty paintings to the 1,392 uncirculated Morgan Silver Dollars inlaid into its curved bar mirrors the Silver Dollar Bar. The showroom presents all manner of live music to guests looking for an unforgettable evening of dancing, refreshing drinks, and authentic Wyoming fun. As they say in Jackson Hole, “Meet us at the Wort.”
