The White House Historical Association Partners with Historic Hotels of America

Members of the Association to Receive Discounts on Accommodations at Historic Hotels of America Hotels, Resorts, and Inns 

November 27, 2018 (Washington, D.C.) – The White House Historical Association has partnered with Historic Hotels of America®, an official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, to provide benefits for members of both organizations. Members of the White House Historical Association will receive up to 30% off best available rates when booking with HistoricHotels.org. Members of Historic Hotels of America will receive a discount on the 2018 Official White House Christmas Ornament from the White House Historical Association. 

“This opportunity will allow our members greater access to presidential history, and a chance to experience historic sites across America where Presidents including John F. Kennedy, Ronald Reagan, and Ulysses S. Grant have stayed before them,” said Stewart McLaurin, President of the White House Historical Association. “The partnership furthers our mission of enhancing the education and understanding of the executive mansion by preserving White House related history. 

Historic Hotels of America has 300 historic properties in membership across the country including hotels, resorts, and inns. 

“Many legendary historic hotels have hosted U.S. Presidents celebrating special occasions, campaigning, or vacationing with their families,” said Lawrence Horwitz, Executive Director, Historic Hotels of America and Historic Hotels Worldwide.  “Guests can stay in the same hotels where U.S. Presidents have stayed, dine in the same restaurants where U.S. Presidents and their families have dined, and in many cases play on the same golf or tennis courts where U.S. Presidents have played. We are proud to partner with The White House Historical Association and help its mission to preserve and share the Executive Mansion’s legacy for future generations.” 

Hotels such as The Willard InterContinental in Washington, D.C. and the Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania have hosted nearly every president. The Omni Parker House in Boston, Massachusetts is where John F. Kennedy proposed to the future First Lady, Jacqueline Kennedy. In 1879, the Palmer House, A Hilton Hotel in Chicago, Illinois, was the site of one of the most fabled dinners in history, a banquet in honor of the return of former President Ulysses S. Grant from a trip around the world. Richard and Patricia Nixon were married at the Mission Inn Hotel & Spa in Riverside, California. Ronald and Nancy Reagan spent their honeymoon at the Mission Inn. The Fairmont San Francisco, known as the “White House of the West” has hosted nearly every U.S. president since William Taft.
