In the heart of Annapolis, Maryland, three buildings comprise the Historic Inns of Annapolis. The Governor Calvert House was built in 1727 and originally consisted of a two-story brick building with an attached shed, smokehouse, and frame outbuilding. Built in 1772, the Robert Johnson House overlooks the governor’s mansion. Also constructed on Church Circle the same year, the Maryland Inn was described as “an elegant brick house in a dry and healthy part of the city.” All three hotels in Annapolis, MD, have been updated in recent years and feature period antiques and modern amenities. The National Trust for Historic Preservation named Annapolis one of "America’s Dozen Distinctive Destinations."

Governor Benedict Leonard Calvert once occupied the beautiful home and held office from 1727 to 1731. Today, this elegant boutique hotel is home to many state legislators each year when they convene at the Maryland State House across the street.
