- Discover the historic building, part of the Berkeley Square Historic District and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Designed by William H. Scopes in 1926 and 1927, the building has a redbrick façade with limestone-veneered storefronts. The restrained Classical Revival-style exterior is contrasted with an ornate Renaissance Revival-style interior.
- Ascend the marble staircase to discover the grand second floor lobby of Hotel Saranac, Curio Collection by Hilton which extends practically the full length of the building. The Grand Hall was modeled after the Grand Salon of the 14th century Davanzati Palace in Florence, Italy, which was popularized for Americans in a 1922 publication by Louis Conrad Rosenberg. The final design made for the Hotel Saranac in 1926 is three times the size and half the height of the original inspiration.
- View the iconic Hotel Saranac sign that towers high above Saranac Lake. The historic hotel was once the tallest building in the region, and the sign remains visible from miles away. The original 1940s steel framework holds a replica of the original sign today.
