Dishes with a backstory

Discover the longstanding tradition at the Top of the Mark known as the "Squadron Bottle." During World War II, Pacific-bound U.S. servicemen met with friends and loved ones at the lounge for one last toast to the Golden Gate Bridge before deploying, hoping for good luck and a safe return. The servicemen would purchase and leave a bottle with the bartender so soldiers from their squadron could stop by to enjoy a free drink; the only caveat being whoever had the last shot from it would buy the next "Squadron Bottle." This tradition continues today with bottles not only from active servicemen and veterans, but also civilians to show appreciation.
