The Georgian Hotel

When it opened in 1933, this decadent Art Deco landmark in seaside Santa Monica became an immediate attraction for stars of the silver screen seeking relief from hot summers in neighboring Hollywood. The hotel was designed strictly for comfortable oceanfront lodging, offering refreshing, unfettered enjoyment of soothing afternoon breezes and spectacular Pacific sunsets, and the property has embraced this function for the last 75 years. Current Hollywood royalty also retreats to the Georgian’s seaside sanctuary.

The Georgian boasts an ocean-blue facade with eclectic Art Deco detailing throughout the building, an intimate lobby and 84 guest rooms and suites, which are all decked out in magnificent furnishings, elegant draperies and black-and-white photographs. An ocean-view veranda offers quiet respite to enjoy the warm California weather, while outside the Georgian’s front doors sits Santa Monica, blocks away from the pier, convention center, the Getty Museum and Venice Beach. Beverly Hills and Universal Studios are 20 minutes away and Disneyland is an hour’s drive. Simply put, the Georgian Hotel pulls off the seemingly impossible: an escape that is at the center of the action.

Kennedy family matriarch Rose Kennedy spent summers here entertaining celebrities and politicians.
