• Discover the original bank vault located in the impressive Grand Ballroom, which first opened as the Gettysburg National Bank in 1814. The ceiling of the ballroom, which is original to the ballroom’s later renovation, is an impressive 28 feet tall, hand painted, and inlaid with gold.
• Walk through the Gettysburg Hotel to find nods to those famous individuals who helped shape the country and who all called the Gettysburg Hotel home during some part of their story, including Daniel Webster, “the great orator” who stayed overnight and delivered a speech on the front steps of the hotel, Thaddeus Stevens who had a law office in the building and of course, the great President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who used this hotel as his Executive Offices while in town.
• Stroll through The David Wills House just beyond the hotel's front door. This historic home is now a wonderful house museum that is dedicated to chronicling the immediate aftermath of the Battle of Gettysburg, as well as the subseuqent Gettysburg Address.
