The Wigwam was originally built at the height of the Roaring Twenties as a gathering place for Ohio-based executives of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. They discovered that the West Valley of Phoenix was a prime location to grow cotton for the production of rubber tires. As the retreat grew in popularity, lodgings and amenities were added on the resort. On Thanksgiving Day in 1929, The Wigwam opened as a full-service resort with accommodations for just 24 guests. Today, this AAA Four Diamond desert oasis spans across 440 acres. The resort boasts 331 guestrooms, an Aveda lifestyle spa, fitness center, three restaurants and bars, three swimming pools, prominent conference facilities, and three championship golf courses, including two historic Robert Trent Jones, Sr.- designed courses.
