Starting in the mid-eighteenth century, when Robert FitzGerald, the 19th Earl of Kildare received the Carton House grounds to use in service of the Crown, the house and its grounds have risen as a testament to a classic Georgian manor house. Generations of subsequent owners have developed the opulent architecture, décor and landscape on the estate since the initial house was commissioned in 1739. Ultimately, it became a significant landscape in County Kildare, and played host to many famous figures of the twentieth century, including Peter Sellers, Rock Hudson and Princess Grace of Monaco.

In this century, the beautiful environs of Carton House are more available to the public than ever. Guests can stay in the house and its neighboring Garden Wing, enjoying original architectural details mixed with modern amenities. They can dine on everything from local Irish favorites to ambitious tasting menus in Carton House’s selection of restaurants. The resort also features luxury spa and wellness options, champion golf courses among other outdoor activities and spaces for any kind of events, from board meetings to weddings.
