We stayed here on our Oct. 2019 tour of Scotland. The hotel is stately with a historic Scottish feeling. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fabulous with many options like a restaurant. Lots of parking and great grounds to walk. We really enjoyed our stay.

Booked a junior suite for a couple of nights - check in was fast and friendly and we were given our cookies. Room was spacious and clean.
Had dinner in the restaurant both nights - food was delicious. Would recommend the cod and the lamb. We were even able to enjoy a glass of wine / beer with dinner as this was before the change in restrictions.
Breakfast was a good choice and enjoyed it too. Service was fast and friendly.
View of the hotel going up the driveway is impressive.
All covid restrictions were being followed from what I saw so had no worries about this during my stay.

We decided to have a couple of nights away since we had missed out on our main holidays. Since the hotel is in a level 3 area and not allowed to serve a drink with meals, we opted to upgrade to a superior suite. Bad move, on opening the room door we were met with dirty finger prints on the glass doors. In the lounge the windows were also full of dirty finger marks and room had a smell of being grubby.
The bedroom was nice and the bed was really comfortable. I couldn't fault it.
The bathroom had brown water stains running down the door. I wasn't impressed.
Breakfast was very good and the dining room was lovely.
Evening meal was just passable and no more . If I were Nick Nairn I wouldn't be proud of putting my name to it.
Overall I would say the ?50 extra each night was an expensive view..

This is my 2nd hotel review in a week and could not be more different . From the sublime to the ridiculous . Cannot believe the hotel blurb states a little bit of luxury in central Scotland , maybe 40 years ago . Check in good pleasant staff , had stated a special occasion but given a small room on 4 th floor overlooking back kitchens or outbuildings . Tatty marked furniture . Asked if we could be moved to a better room ... no problem . Except that room was even smaller , nowhere to sit except bed and bathroom had absolutely no space either side of sink ( or anywhere else not as much as a shelf for even a toothbrush ( not that there were any glasses even if we wanted to put a toothbrush there ) so all our toiletries had to be kept in bedroom. Mouldy rubber shower mat placed on same rail as clean towels and as previous reviewer mentioned half a toilet roll . Saving grace was dinner , although had to move tables 3 times as stink of mould or old mop smell . Several other people in dining room ( 6 others at time we were in ) also asked to move due to smell . Meal itself was great , chicken dish and lamb dish cooked to perfection and dining room staff all pleasant and helpful . Pity won't be back though .

2 night dinner bed and breakfast break

check in was very easy we had previously booked a time for a swim so went swimming first then got our room . I can only rate the swimming pool as 5 star they were very covid aware and kept the place very clean.

No one explained that our room would not be cleaned or new towels or beds made so after two days it was needing the bins emptied !

We had booked dinner bed and breakfast but was unaware that dinner did not mean a dessert or a coffee this was all at an extra charge. Food was only average and they even managed to overcook the pizza couldn't hardly cut it with my steak knife, they did offer to get another one but for a four year old it was to late

I was concered when my granddaughter found a very old hard pea down the side of her dining room chair I mentioned it to the waitress but it was just passed by. Clearly at no point had this chair been cleaned . Some tables were very close and certainly not to the covid guide lines.
