During the 1870s, the much-anticipated Jærensbanen railway managed to reach the commercial seaside town of Egersund in the heart of Western Norway. Travel to Egersund subsequently flourished, with hundreds of people flooding into the community from larger places like Stavanger. To accommodate the rising number of guests arriving each week, aspiring hotelier Herman Danielson began constructing a beautiful hotel near the train station.
