  • Nice Stay, Beautiful Hotel

    by MarySe2678 on 2019-10-22 05:59 am

I stayed one night in September prior to attending a Bears game at Soldier Field. The proximity to so many things is what makes this hotel great. Within walking distance of the stadium, museums, restaurants, etc. The room we stayed in was large & updated. We had a park view room overlooking Grant Park. There was a lot of noise from the street, but it's an older hotel in downtown Chicago and was to be expected. All the staff we encountered was friendly. Hotel is extremely large so if you have mobility issues, it would be something to think about. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

All personal at the breakfast are very low trained persons. Even the basics are unknown. No good morning, no friendliness, no correct behavior at the dishes, no thank you, no eye contact and so on and so on. The Breakfast itself is very nice. The Hotel
is also very nice, the Rooms are large and clean.
    The Location is perfect.
    Temperatur is ok.

  • Barely average

    by Katherine K on 2019-10-18 10:17 am

I stayed in room 1721 for the annual Educause convention. I checked in on Sunday and checked out on Thursday. On Monday they did not provide room services which would not have been a big deal but I was taking advantage of the in-room coffee. So I had to call the front desk for a paper cup and a couple of pods. The rest of the week they provided room service but kept forgetting to refill the coffee supplies.

Maybe it is a little thing but we travel to Chicago 3-4 times a year and typically stay at the Marriott in the N. Michigan Ave area which is a much better rate and the amenities are exponentially better. The Hilton is HUGE and for what initially appears to be a luxury hotel, the rooms are just ok. There are also some very odd little boutiques in the hotel selling things like $5 necklaces. It looks a little like a garage sale or a bazaar of some sort.

This place is also off the beaten path if you are looking for something close to shopping and restaurants.

  • Lots of history and the rooms sure feel the affects!

    by Gary G on 2019-10-17 08:35 am

The location, the staff and lobby :) very nice. The rooms are very old, very small and very noisy. We stayed on the 10th floor and the wallpaper was coming off, the toilet broke, lots of stains all over the bathroom and the shower was slow to drain, like 3 inches of standing water slow. The walls and ceiling are very thin I guess, all night we heard everyone walking, elevators going up and down, water pumps or something running constantly on and off. I was in town for the marathon so the location was obviously ideal and that was the major factor I chose this hotel but if I came to Chicago again I wouldn't stay here or recommend it. Sure, swing by and see the lobby and history but definitely better overall options available in Chicago. Also not sure who's idea it was to install smoke detectors over the beds with the worlds brightest flashing green light. It literally lights up the whole room in a flashing matter. We spoke to house keeping and they put a sticker over the light for us, if you stay here you will know exactly what I mean, its crazy.

  • Service was horrible

by thepatfive on 2019-10-16 010:46 pm

Hi, I just wanted to order room service. However, on two different occasions the Chicago Hilton let me down. Basically, the tablet in my room didn't work, so I tried calling in my order for room service, but they insisted I use the tablet. As a result, I was left hungry and out of luck. Hotel is nice, but the people suck.
