About as far west in Norway as it is possible to go, on an island facing the Atlantic Ocean. This is where you find Knutholmen. A family-run hotel with historic sea houses in stunning surroundings, and a restaurant known for its excellent seafood.
Comprised of a string of several historic buildings, Knutholmen Hotel represents the dynamic heritage of western Norway’s storied maritime heritage. The charming complex that makes up the hotel today once served as a marketplace, featuring a salting shop, bakery, guesthouses, and other businesses. Most of these structures appeared during the 1860s, when the surrounding village of Kalvåg was undergoing a minor economic revolution. Its native fishing industry became immensely successful, attracting thousands of visitors to the remote seaside community every year. Countless visitors from abroad still descend upon Kalvåg today, due to its well-preserved seaside environment and rustic ambiance.
