Lake Yellowstone Hotel & Cabins

    Lake Yellowstone Hotel & Cabins
 in Yellowstone National Park

Overview

Lake Yellowstone Hotel & Cabins, a member of Historic Hotels of America since 2012, was completed in 1891 as part of a series of hotels to accommodate visitors to Yellowstone National Park. Beginning in 1903, it was re-designed and expanded by architect Robert Reamer. His work updated a plain clapboard structure to one with Colonial Revival accents, additional guest rooms, three porticoes and a Sun Room lobby that overlook the lake.

The entire hotel was extensively renovated and restored to its Colonial Revival influences with completion of the renovations in 2014. Hotel guestrooms capture the historic ambiance. The adjacent Sandpiper Lodge also carries many of the same in-room décor of the hotel. The nearby Lake Cottages provide more basic and economical options. The building’s classic white columns accenting the yellow exterior of the hotel create a vision that stands apart from the surrounding forest and meadows.

Lake Yellowstone Hotel features a gift shop filled with gifts and collectables, Native American jewelry, apparel, select furniture items, and fine gifts. Guests can also enjoy fine dining at a casually elegant restaurant featuring the park’s most upscale menu, or stop for a coffee or quick bite to eat at the Lake Hotel Deli. The serenity of Yellowstone Lake illuminates the Sun Room through the ample lobby windows, as guests daydream during the evening to the delicate sounds of a string quartet and enjoy a beverage from the nearby centerpiece bar.

Lake Yellowstone Hotel is a National Historic Landmark and typically opens from mid-May through early October annually.

Lake Yellowstone Hotel & Cabins, a member of Historic Hotels of America since 2012, dates back to 1891.

Fun FactThis Colonial-Revival influenced gem on the shore of Yellowstone Lake is the oldest operating hotel in the park.
