    Wonderful Stay

This was a wonderful night away with my partner. The Groupon offer including dinner and breakfast makes it good value and even better if you are a new user of Groupon as they offer a further 20 percent off.

Couple of things to mention before you go. 1: They appear to have not completely finished refurbing all rooms so I emailed and requested a refubished room. 2: If you take the dinner/breakfast/room offer they automatically give you a time. If you want to change it, let them know. They were very helpful and responded within a few hours to my email.

Onto the actual stay, the hotel is very grand and the entrance way is particularly impressive. Check in was easy. Don't have an issue with them blocking 50 pounds on my account for spending but why in 2020 it takes 7-9 working days to come back is confusing imo. Room was not huge but furnished to a high standard and the 'wet room' bathroom was beautiful.

Some previous posts have not been particularly positive about the food. I personally thought it was decent. They had spent time on the presentation of the staters and the fish and chips were a generous portion. My partner's risotto was tasty. As previously mentioned, service was very quick and we were done in about 25 mins. I would imagine this is due to them being used to mass catering for weddings so a few tables run like clockwork. Having said that, when we were done, we felt under no pressure to move on and noticed some guess stayed at their tables a significant time after they'd finished.

If you want to make a proper break of it, I've got a couple of further suggestions. We took a lovely walk down the Thames footpath by parking at a small free car park just by the Minnow pub in town. Just a 5 minute walk from the hotel is the excellent Flintgate craft beer pub. A massive range of beers, a well covered and heated outdoor area and currently doing 50 percent off food on Tuesday and Weds. Booking a must.

Staff very helpful and friendly. Rooms clean and warm. Shame the bar area was so cold in the evening, it didn't encourage drinkers! We visited in October so were not able to take advantage of the beautiful gardens.

The hotel itself is beautiful, lovely quaint features, beautiful grounds with a river that we had a walk down to, our room was lovely, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom looked nice and everything was clean but even with the heating on in our room the bathroom was rather cold. The staff were very attentive and the food was delicious, we had breakfast in our room due to Covid, lunch in the bar as we arrived before check in and dinner in the restaurant, good wine selection. I have to commend the staff and management for the Covid measures, the staff all wore masks and were fabulous whilst keeping their distance, they are operating a one way system and there was always someone on hand to help with anything, can't wait to return

We had a 2 night stay using the well known groupon voucher deals. The Fitness suite was understandably closed and Breakfast was room service only. The location and accommodation was very good and the staff very helpful. The only slight let down was the evening menu was paired down, we expected cut backs with covid but i felt the limited evening menu was done to a "Groupon Voucher Market budget" thats not to say the food was lacking it was OK but the venue has cut its cloth and the profit margin is obviously in the drinks. We had had a previous Groupon deal in September in another 4* venue and the menu was the normal extensive menu. The location is just a short walk from Weybridge shops and a short drive to Sunbury on Thames or Brooklands Museum so very convenient. Would we use again--yes --Hopefully get the other side of Covid and the menu will enlarge.

The hotel itself is a beautiful building and has been refurbished to a decent standard although lacking character. For example laminated paper signs everywhere. But the service is not what I would expect at all. I wanted peppermint tea in the room as they only had English breakfast and was told there is a ?5 charge for them coming to the room. I have never heard of this before. Then at breakfast we came down at 7:30 and was told breakfast starts at 8:00 which we were fine with but wanted to sit in the dining room and have a coffee. We were told we could have a coffee but not in the dining room but only the cold bar area. Then at breakfast I was served burnt toast and asked them to re do it but was told that the toaster was on minimum setting. I had to insist to make them make me toast that was not burnt!! Just feel in this climate where they have hardly any hotel guests, they should be going the extra mile with the service but seems a lot of the staff are just not bothered about making your stay comfortable. The only positive is the beautiful views and we got a Feature Room which was on the top floor facing the lake. The lunch was good and I had the vegetarian burger.
