  • Disappointed - Not a 4 Star Hotel

    I decided to splurge and reserve a top floor room with a romance package for our wedding anniversary. Similar to other reviewers, our first impressions were great. The hotel lobby is beautiful and our check-in was very quick. Our limited staff interaction was pleasant. The room, located on the top floor with a city view, was my first let down. While we enjoyed the view and patio, nothing else about the room was appealing. I agree with other reviews that the furniture is dated and worn. There were stains and tears on both chairs. Our bathroom was also in deteriorating condition. The worst part was a lingering musty/smoky smell. None of the room qualities made us feel like we were staying in one of the best rooms of a 4 star hotel. Part of the romance package was to include a pre-stay call to inquire about special requests...I never received a call from the hotel. Not a big deal, but again when you're paying for a premium package and room the little things matter. We enjoyed the late check out, and decided to use the pool. No towels were available, and the pool is a far cry from the pictures online. Upon check-out the front desk asked about our stay, and I explained that we enjoyed the patio and view, but noted the other issues above. They apologized and said we were all set, and we went on our way. Not quite the experience we'd hoped for a special occasion and the amount we spent on a premium room and package. I wouldn't recommend this hotel unfortunately.

    The stay at this hotel started off great, we arrived at the hotel around 2:30pm, valet was very polite and professional. Check in was a breeze, they allowed us to pick a higher or lower floor and gave a kids activity backpack to our child which made her day. So far so good, the elevators were quick and the hall to our room was clean, a little warm, but clean. Upon entering our room, the stay quickly went downhill. The room was quite dated and had a strange smell. Both beds had random hairs in them before we ever had a chance to get in them, the lamp shades were stained and both chairs in the room had seen better days. One of the chairs was cracked and worn out while the other was stained. The tv picture wasn't very clear and the remote was gross(typical of most hotels). The bathroom was foul. Quite dated, the toilet looked like something you would see in a truck stop not a 4 star hotel and the shower was old and appeared to have not only some rust but mold in it. Very unacceptable especially for someone traveling with a child. The beds were decently comfortable if you could get past the stray hair and the room was quiet. We ordered some dessert from room service, none of which was good. With the above all stated, I will go back and say all the staff we came in contact with were nice, but I do not see how this hotel is considered a 4 star hotel I would give it 3 stars at the absolute best and that is a stretch, unless stars were based off location. The location was very nice being attached to the mall and right by all the restaurants. Without updates being made, I will pay more money next time to stay somewhere else.

  • Great place! A little noisy

    I always love staying at this hotel when in Indianapolis. The location couldn't be better and the place has so much to offer from it's marbled entrance, fresh cucumber water, to great bar/coffee shops and perfect location for moving around the city. The things that need to be revised are the windows and fridge policy.
    Of all its great amenities they want to charge for an in room fridge. It's not even a fridge, it's a little better than just letting things sit out. Nothing ever became chilled and they want to charge you $25 extra for it to be in an already pricey corner view suite???? The street noise can wake you up each time the fire trucks blast their horns.
    In summary, if you get a room away from the street and don't need a fridge, the rooms, hotel, staff, location are excellent!

  • Wonderful place to stay

    We had a wonderful experience. Mother's Day brunch was outstanding. The room was great and very comfortable. Valet service was timely and bell men were very friendly. I would recommend this hotel when visiting the downtown area. Excellent restaurants within walking distance.

    Best staff in any hotel I have stayed at.
    Rooms are tired. Lobby is great. Bar is fantastic
    Location is great.
    Across the street from the old train station. Beautiful building. Do go and see.
