  • Nice enough but serious price gouging

by picklebird on 2019-05-17 07:04 am

I stayed here because I could easily walk to my friends' house in Russian Hill from here. The rooms are large, the bathroom is very nice, and I like the Keurig coffee maker in the room. But man, is this place over-priced. In addition to paying a premium for this hotel, you then need to pay a "facilities fee" of at least $25/night AND that doesn't even include access to the spa which would be another $40 a pop. Moreover, hotel guests are not permitted to use the spa on weekends unless they pay for an overpriced massage. I could take a Lyft to my friends' place from any other hotel in the city and it still wouldn't add up to the extra money I spent to stay here. Won't be doing it again.

  • Huntintong hotel

    by luciag886 on 2019-05-16 08:11 pm

It is a beautiful hotel, well located, great rooms, good restaurant but the AC does NOT work, the elevator is broken and there is no time soon to be fixed.
The lobby is nice and simple but the furniture is a kind of old.

    Owner Response
    Lucia,
Thanks so much for visiting us. We really appreciate you joining us and the compliments about the hotel are appreciated. From time to time, in historic hotels like ours, things go wrong and it may not always be a simple fix. I'm so sorry to hear it detracted. Our a/c is working, and our windows open which is nice too if you love fresh air. Thankfully when one of our elevators went down for maintenance the others worked fine.
    All our best,

  • Very lovely stay!

    by 713Hyde on 2019-05-09 01:30 pm

This the second time I stayed at this hotel with my husband and its still the 1st on my list for a boutique hotel in town. Atop of Nob Hill across from the Grace Cathedral, its accessible for all venues. A must visit for dinner and drinks before and after a night out in The Big Four restaurant. Named after the 4 titans of business that built San Francisco. Plush leather seats.. a live piano player and the magnificent service without being to intrusive. A shout out to our server that kept our glasses full in a packed bar that night. The guys at the door are quick with a smile and a joke. Our room was amazing. I would suggest a suite overlooking Grace Cathedral and the park. The customer service the hotel staff provided was very friendly and accommodating. Everyone who served us was very nice, they made us feel very special! Be sure to take advantage of their complimentary car service that will take you anywhere within a mile of the hotel. Overall we had a very lovely stay!

713Hyde, I'm so glad you returned a second time and that we've won over your heart as your go to in San Francisco. Thank you! I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed the nostalgic Big 4 Restaurant experience- we think the live piano at night is such a great classic experience.
Thank you again, come back soon and know the Huntington team very much appreciates your feedback.

  • Superb Quality & Customer Service - Specifically Jorge (Manager)

    by Arikl123 on 2019-05-07 04:02 pm

The room was clean and just as advertised. The staff was very accommodating and excellent on all standards of service. Specifically Jorge & Dorian made our stay extra special and worth every dollar. If you have any issues just ask for the manager Jorge he will take care of all issues you have in a quick and expedient fashion. The room was clean and the view was excellent.

    Owner Response
Jorge and Dorian, along with the rest of those whom have impacted your visit are all celebrating and feeling very motivated by your review- thank you so much for making our jobs such a pleasure by showing that we make an impact on peoples San Francisco experience.
Thank you so much, this is great.

  • Uncomfortable & unwelcomed stay

    by Dina N on 2019-05-06 07:00 pm

Let me start by saying this was a beautiful hotel in a great central location! The check-in process took a little longer than expected but the room was clean and spacious, and the bed was comfortable.

However, the service my boyfriend and I received during our stay made us feel incredibly uncomfortable and slightly discriminated against. We are both in our early-mid 20's and were checked in for 3 days. One night we grabbed drinks at the bar and the bartender asked where we were staying. After responding "upstairs", he seemed taken aback and just carried on making our drinks. The next day, we bought some groceries to spend the day at the beach and decided to drop it off in our hotel room first. As we pulled up to the hotel and began to walk in, someone approached us asking if we were checking in. We explained we were already checked in and just dropping a few things off in our room. The man followed us into the hotel, to the elevators and proceeded to ask us which floor we were staying on and the name our reservation was under.

I'm assuming because we're young and staying in a 4-star luxury hotel, we looked out of place. Clearly he didn't believe that we were guests in the hotel and felt the need to follow us to the elevator to get our information. We gave him the information although hesitantly since this has never happened to us before and seemed uncalled for. Nonetheless we would've appreciated the same respect given to all guests, as I'm sure guests aren't normally followed to the elevator and asked which floor & their reservation name upon entering the hotel.

I wish we didn't experience this because it felt very pretentious and made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable during our stay.

    Owner Response
I'm so sorry to hear that our steps at both welcoming people in and providing a safe but luxurious stay was received or perhaps maybe even delivered in a way that felt unwelcoming and uncomfortable. Really- I'd like to think we have no other intention than to assure everyone is welcomed when joining us, and that we are providing a sense of security to the best of our abilities in an urban environment that many have come to expect.
I'd be happy to discuss further, of course- feel free to reach out.
