Zion Lodge

Overview
The name "Zion" means a place of peace and refuge. As a sanctuary with over 146,000 acres of cliffs, canyons, diverse plant and animal life, and uninterrupted beauty, Zion National Park is well-named. Its massive sandstone walls, some as high as 3,800 feet, offer an opportunity for serenity and reflection for all who visit.
Designed by Gilbert Stanley Underwood in 1924, Zion Lodge, a member of Historic Hotels of America since 2012, was built with modest scale and detailing in mind. The structures were built with whole logs in a “studs-out” style, and with less stonework than other national park buildings. This design was more in keeping with the character of the valley floor, which at the time of construction was still inhabited by settlers. A fire in 1966 destroyed the original lodge. It was rebuilt within 100 days, but the original rustic look was lost in favor of expedience in reopening the lodge. A 1990 remodel restored the lodge to its original look.
Each of Zion Lodge’s historic cabins features two double beds or one queen bed, full bath, air-conditioning, gas log fireplace, and private porch. Hotel rooms are also available. The lodge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, open year-round, and offers two dining options: Red Rock Grill, full-service dining in the lodge boasting spectacular views; and Castle Dome Café, a relaxed, casual, outdoor dining experience that is opened seasonally.
Zion Lodge is located in Zion National Park.
