There is no limit to the depth of the Cuban culture. Imaginations run wild with thoughts of music, filled with infectious rhythms and passion, and vistas, filled with breathtaking terrains. It is why writers such as Ernest Hemingway were once drawn here. There is no better way to witness the colorful mosaic of Cuba than aboard the 210-guest MS Saint Laurent. Her size allows her to reach small inlets and ports that are untouched by larger vessels, allowing her guests to witness a rich culture built by generations of European, African and revolutionary influences.

Experience Cuban culture the most authentic way possible—through its people. On this distinctive program, get acquainted with Cubans in their daily lives, from the city of Havana to the tobacco plantations of Viñales Valley. Engage with people directly in discussions about their lives and work, culture and traditions. Meet with Cuban historians, artists, musicians and naturalists and experience this diverse island through their eyes.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 | Miami, Florida
In the afternoon, guests will begin the journey from Port of Miami and sail overnight to the cultural capital of Cuba, Havana. A Welcome Reception, as well as an informative talk about the journey, will be held in the evening.

Day 2 | Havana, Cuba
After breakfast, guests will disembark and begin exploring the beautiful city on foot. Visit Hotel Ambos Mundos, where Ernest Hemingway kept a room for years. It served as the author’s refuge for writing such works as For Whom the Bell Tolls and a base for frequenting his favorite bars. After dinner, guests are encouraged to enjoy an evening performance at Tropicana Cabaret or stroll to nearby Café Taberna.

Day 3 | Viñales Valley, Cuba
Guests head west into the province of Pinar Del Rio to the famed Viñales Valley, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Survey an orchid garden, visit a family-run tobacco farm, and interact with workers at a tobacco-sorting facility. A small boat will also take guests inside one of the many limestone caves that punctuate the valley. The day concludes with a meeting with the community’s locals before returning to Havana.

Day 4 | Maria La Gorda
Explore Maria La Gorda, one of the most popular, unspoiled dive sites in Cuba. Meet with a local naturalist at Guanahacabibes National Park, the largest of Cuba’s six nature reserves.

Day 5 | Cienfuegos, Cuba
Begin the day exploring Cienfuegos, a UNESCO World Heritage Site often referred to as “the Pearl of the South” with its distinct French spirit and Caribbean flair. Guests meet with a local specialist to discuss the significance of many of the city’s buildings before visiting a graphic arts workshop.

Day 6 | Trinidad, Cuba
A city historian leads a walk tour through Trinidad, an architectural jewel proclaimed a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Mingle with local residents and call on artists in their studios as guests wind their way through the city.

Day 7 | Santiago de Cuba, Cuba
Home of legendary rum and the birthplace of the revolution, Santiago de Cuba is the country’s second largest city and serves as an important seaport for the island. Witness locals explaining their dance, as well as learn about the Afro-Cuban religions practiced in the area. Guests will then visit the local citadel of San Pedro de la Roca, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 8 | Alejandro de Humboldt, Cuba
Guests explore the Alejandro de Humboldt National Park, which is located in the heart of the Cuchillas del Toa Biosphere Reserve and widely recognized as the best-preserved mountainous ecosystem in the Caribbean.

Day 9 | Gibara/Holguín, Cuba
After a leisurely morning of cruising and lunch onboard, guests will step ashore in the colorful port of Gibara where Christopher Columbus landed in 1492. Comfortable coaches will take guests into the interior to explore the city of Holguín. Guests will then return to the ship for the evening’s farewell dinner.
