The Belleview Inn was first constructed by railroad magnate Henry B. Plant as a way to attract business to one of his new railways in the St. Petersburg area. Debuting as the “Belleview Hotel” in 1897, it quickly gained a storied reputation. The hotel soon emerged as a haunt for the rich and famous, with Hollywood celebrities becoming a regular sight. And as it grew in popularity, so too did its size. Eventually measuring at 400,000 square feet, the building was the largest wooden-frame structure in all of Florida for many years. Reborn as the “Belleview Inn” during 2018, this delightful hotel is still among the most charming retreats throughout the country.

Discover

  • Walk into Henry Plant’s grand Queen Anne-style hotel with its gingerbread-like details, peaked gables, overhanging roof, and wide verandas. Then marvel at its historic accommodations, which have hosted the likes of Babe Ruth, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and several U.S. presidents.
  • Stop by the inn’s reimagined Tiffany Room and look up to find 24 panels of the original Tiffany stained glass saved from The Belleview-Biltmore Hotel’s Tiffany Ballroom.
  • Discover the wide-open feeling of the lobby in the great room absent of columns. This is due, in part, to the massive trusses hidden in the walls that support the ceiling. Get a glimpse of the trusses when on the fourth floor (near the Grand Staircase) by staring through a piece of glass in the wall.

Explore

  • Step inside Morton’s Reading Room and learn about the history of the inn. Uncover how the inn was turned 90 degrees and moved 300 feet to its current location. Roam the hallways and get a glimpse of life in the 1920s with images of famous pastimes of the day.
  • Participate in scheduled history tours of the inn and discover the art of Christopher Still who is known as “Florida’s Artist in Residence.” Enjoy the historical stories told in Christopher Still’s two oils on canvas; A New Day and Queen of the Gulf.
  • Explore the sugar white sand of Clearwater Beach, voted as America’s premier beach year after year. Guests of the inn have access to the beach via the Sandpearl Resort, Belleview Inn’s sister location.

Experience

  • Experience the private Belleair Country Club. Established in 1897, it features two 18-hole, championship-caliber Donald Ross courses.
  • Watch the famous dolphins Winter and Hope, stars of the family favorite movies Dolphin Tale and Dolphin Tale 2. Both Winter and Hope live at the famous Clearwater Marine Aquarium. The aquarium is also a working marine hospital that focuses on the rescue and rehabilitation of marine life.
  • Kayak through the bayside mangrove forest or sunbathe on the white sand beach of Caladesi Island State Park. It is one of the few completely natural islands located along the Gulf Coast.

Taste

  • Sip on a cup of Belleview Roast coffee specifically blended for the inn by the Belleair Coffee Company. Guests can order the beverage at the brilliantly restored Maisie’s Market Place.
  • Enjoy fresh seafood from many local restaurants, such as Clearwater Oyster Company. Their inviting location is just steps away from Clearwater Beach. The restaurant contains a raw bar, creative cuisine, and many other options to ensure a satisfying experience.
  • Head over to the Belleair Country Club and choose to dine in the Main Dining Room. It has many outstanding dining venues, including the Belle Terrace and its magical crystal chandelier.
