Dark history around this originally preserved building made the stay a very unique experience, not for everyone, but I enjoyed the stay at that place. We climbed the spiral staircase up to the top of the watching tower for a beautiful panorama view of the surrounding areas. A very clean and quiet hotel.

Really neat idea. But it felt a little like it was rushed to finish. There were a few corners obviously cut. The bathroom was incredible in the Queen Deluxe room but the floor of the bed area was filthy. Also, very noisy, you can hear every room next to and above you.

I visited Blackburn Inn before it was a hotel when it just had been approved for renovation. Coming back and seeing what has been done is outstanding. The hotel itself is beautiful, and luxurious. It is not like a hotel you have ever stayed at. Additionally, Staunton is a beautiful little town, with delicious food. The staff at Blackburn is incredibly friendly (Reagen was a sweetheart) and very welcoming. The rooms are stunning and comfortable. I highly recommend getting the Deluxe Queen with the soaking tub. It is a very cozy, warm, welcoming hotel with a very interesting and historical past, so if you like history, I highly recommend researching the campus, which was once a State Hospital. I cant wait to come back here for another weekend. There are still some abandoned buildings on the property, and other buildings that have been turned into residences, so it is important to respect others living spaces and it is asked that you do not take photos of the buildings/property. This place has a really amazing charm.

Unfortunately we would have loved to say our stay was amazing from the pictures and the grounds of the hotel however when we arrived at 9:30 pm we were greeted by no one being there. We called the hotel number and no one answered. Tried several times until 10:15 while we waited out side knocking on all doors with our 4 month old son... FINALLY we were able to get in from the nice service worker that wasn't sure why no one was answering. Anyway after that no one apologized or said they would help us with anything on our stay and their was really no insulation in the room so you could hear everyones conversations from outside upstairs and downstairs. Will not be staying again.

My husband and I have been to this hotel several times, glad to see they have reopened. At the time of our visit they did not have breakfast available which I had enjoyed on past visits. The room with the soaking tub is very nice in the evening to relax before bed. The location is very good for a quick drive into town for dining,
