A member of Historic Hotels of America since 2021, the Eagles Mere Inn has stood as a cherished local landmark in downtown Eagles Mere, Pennsylvania, for well over a century. The inn was originally built by Albert Canover Little, a talented local architect who spent most of his life being referred to as “A.C.” A.C. Little was drawn to the Eagles Mere area because of his deep interest in building seasonal cottages within the picturesque landscape of Sullivan County. At the behest of a company of local hoteliers known as the “Eagles Mere Syndicate,” Little and his sons proceeded to build 16 homes throughout Eagles Mere from 1885 to 1906.
Today this cozy and welcoming retreat allows guests to relax and explore the fantastic natural environment that surrounds the Inn. Guests are able to explore the Eagles Mere Lake and other amenities that are typically exclusive to members of the Eagles Mere Country Club. This fantastic holiday destination is proud to continue offering the same outstanding services that have since made it a staple in northeastern Pennsylvania.

- Discover the fascinating institutional history of the Eagles Mere Inn. Constructed at the height of the Gilded Age by architect A.C. Little, the Eagles Mere Inn originally operated as a boarding house called the “Hotel Lewis.” Many people often stayed at the hotel due to its affordable rates, including the workers who had built the larger hotels around Eagles Mere Lake.

The lake has long been the center of Eagles Mere’s culture, with many people enjoying all kinds of recreational activity on the water year after year. Eagles Mere Lake in particular is host to the Water Carnival, an exciting end-of-summer event that is held annually.

- Explore Forksville Covered Bridge and Country Store. Built in the mid-19th century, both the covered bridge and the accompanying storefront were originally the property of Sadler Rogers. The bridge itself is among the most historic in all of Pennsylvania and is just one of three left in all of Sullivan County.
- Visit the Endless Mountains War Memorial Museum in neighboring Sonestown. This amazing cultural institution features a massive personal collection of military artifacts that saw service in five different conflicts in America’s history.
- Travel to French Azilum several miles away. Founded in 1793, French Azilum was a village created by sympathetic Philadelphians to shelter refugees fleeing the French Revolution. The town covered some 300-acres and even featured a log cabin for Marie Antoinette in the event she managed to escape from France.

Visitors adore traversing the Ricketts Glen State Park along its 6.3-mile-long Falls Trails System.
