- Discover the Italian Renaissance-style façade of Fairmont Olympic Hotel - Seattle. Known as the city’s Grand Dame, this historic landmark features large arched windows, towering columns, and lush green window boxes surrounding the original name of this historic hotel, The Olympic, which is still etched above the entrance. The Seattle Times held a contest to name the hotel, and a grand ball ushered in the tradition of large luxurious festivities in Seattle and on the West Coast.
- See the newly renovated grand lobby of Fairmont Olympic Hotel - Seattle. Spanish design studio Lázaro Rosa-Violán created the interior vision and design for the hotel renovation which infused modern design aesthetics with existing historic elements to create an elegant, community-centric experience. Discover the history walk that wraps around the Mezzanine level. Delve into old photographs, newspaper articles, historical documents and artifacts such as the first guest registry and guest correspondence letters, these visual elements give a glimpse into the early days of the iconic Seattle hotel.
- Marvel at the historical elements that shine anew following the grand restoration. Original terrazzo and marble flooring was hand-laid by artisans from Italy in 1924 when the hotel opened. This spectacular feature had been hidden by carpeting for over half a century before the original historic flooring was repaired, restored, and refinished to its original splendor. Fairmont Olympic Hotel - Seattle’s most celebrated and ornate crystal chandeliers, crowning statements of grace and glamour, were carefully removed from the former Georgian Restaurant. Following a full restoration, the chandeliers were meticulously reassembled to their original brilliance and placed in their new location, the foyer adjacent to the Spanish Ballroom, to preside over future decades of celebrations and momentous occasions.
